Nexus 5: About to order

Not everyone cares about the latest and greatest phones. My mother for example only upgraded this past month because she needed a bigger capacity phone (she bought the iPhone 4 8gb as her first smartphone when the s4 came out) but Tbh she probably can stick with the 5c for a good 3-4 years if the battery allows that. My father uses a basic flip phone. I upgrade annually so jump makes sense for me but there is plenty of people who don't care about 2 year upgrades

When you pay the phone off, who wants to keep a 2 year old phone????!
FYI I have Sprint.

You can pay the phone halfway then jump. A 600 phone, pay half the phone off now or monthly whenever.. And you can jump whenever.

What? Seriously not everybody cares about upgrading ... Trust me my mother will probably keep her Iphone 5c till it can't hold a charge or until They offer a bigger screen iphone and better camera... She is perfectly fine with the iphone 5c which is basically a rebranded 5. TBH if I wanted to save some money the Note 3 is good enough phone to last the next 3 years imo

True, but he likes the upgrade all the time.

As long as my Nexus 5 keeps working as well as it has been since I bought it, I'd be fine sticking with it a few years. But... I'll still buy the next one if it's at least as good just to support the Nexus. :)

Pay half the phone's full price, then turn it in with no trade in credit to just start paying full price for another phone? Ppl don't realize how crazy that is?! ....and then Jump, which is another $120 a year....ridiculous.

smh..its not required. JUMP is optional, and for "$120 a year" you can switch to a new phone when you want and have phone insurance in case you lose or damage your phone.

edit: And technically its not $120/year. It's a monthly fee, not an annual fee.

If people want to use a phone that's 2 years old, then that's their business. If the phone does what they need it to do, then they probably don't have a compelling reason to upgrade.

I paid for insurance when i was on AT&T and the same on T-mobile .... I don't break my phones and if i did i would get squaretrade. I pay for it for the loss and theft coverage. So I will be paying for it anyways.... You also get Trade credit in the sum of the rest of the payments left so you can start again with a clean slate. This option is for people who upgrade annually and is a cheaper way to do so

I love a good discussion but lets get back to thread topic at hand please :)

Thanks.

Ok cool :-)
To OP, don't get an unsubsidized phone on T-Mobile unless they have better service in your area and it will cost you the same or less monthly, than your current plan. Leasing a phone is the worst idea ever.
That is all :-)

Yes you are....just like a car.

It is not the same. Once you pay off the monthly payments on the phone (usually two years), the phone is yours to keep. When leasing a car, you have to return it after the lease term is up.

Jump also includes warranty and extended warranty, which is $10 in and of itself. If you don't wish to use jump, then just buy on the device payment plan.

....."yours to keep" by that time, if I want to sell it I won't even get 1/4 of the original FULL price. If I want to trade it in, even less! Older ppl (like my old man, grandparents ect) will keep their device 2+ years but 99% of the ppl in this forum do not do that.

So the other side is trading it every 6 months, a year or a year and half... To be able to do that you need Jump which is $120 a year. THEN, when u actually trade it in, they just pay off the remainder... I mean C'mon, you've been paying for so long (x amount of months) + your phone has got to be worth more than paying off the remainder. In other words, YOU PRACTICALLY PAID 6+ MONTHS just to give it back for FREE. They made money of your payments, they get back a "new device" and lease you another LOL, no thank you.

Some see Jump as good for insurance as well. It's not only for changing the phone in. Some may like this due to upgrading alot. I personally buy phones full price and call it a day.

I'm fine with that. Glad you're clear.

I just like to call it how IT is, not SUGAR coat it with pretty names like 'uncarrier' and 'framily' .....

That is all.
