Nexus 5: About to order

Anyway, if I were you, I wouldn't chose any other phone over the Nexus 5..... Its an all around beast and you'll always be up to date with the latest OS version.

Yeah well I've done a lot of research and it's not the one for me cuz of battery life and camera.

Although many have complained about these two areas, I've yet to have either problem. I get all day battery use and although the camera may not be as quick as we'd like for it to be, it takes very clear pictures.

Yeah battery life it definitely on a user by user basis. On my Note 3 I can kill the battery fast even though it's a decent size.. So I have extras.

Whereas I know others who can go 2 days before a charge :).

I don't find the battery life to be that bad honestly. Unless your an extreme heavy battery drainer type user. I consider my usage pretty heavy and I'm ok with the battery. The camera can be as good as the iPhone with HDR+ on. I did a lot of research before buying this phone also the price is a plus. But like I said before if you would have had like an iPhone 4S its worth the upgrade. But I wouldn't spend the money if you have a 5S its still a new phone.

Battery life.... Its decent to great, it ain't no Note 3 but its better than anything else with the same specs (screen, snapdragon 800, battery size). Beats iPhone hands down blindly.

Camera, idk where or what u read but after 4.4.2, my camera is insanely good. HDR+ is amazing.

Yeah of course, the screen on the note 3 is also larger though so I guess the battery on that makes up for it. Yeah the camera is on par with the 5s's.

You have to do your research, look at nexus 5 vs m8 YouTube videos, look and the prices, what do you care about the most? Plastic vs metal to me here is not a factor because the nexus built quality is outstanding, regardless I have a case on my phone... So it doesn't matter. Do you like simplicity? Or do the extra m8 features are the extra 300? Look into those factors.. Do you like HTCs Sence Android OS overlay or would you rather have a vanilla stock pure android experience? Nexus has the same internals as the 600 dollar phones so it comes down to the little things.

I've watched YouTube vids on them both. Just leaning more towards the M8

Unless you really want to change soon, I'd keep the money till next year when a real improvement comes because the 5S is still new and high end. But its up to you.

Yeah, I don't hate on anyone over switching from one phone to the other. There are so many great devices on multiple platforms right now that it's an honestly tough decision. One thing I've found with dealing on iMore (I've been known to jump from Android to iOS and back again) is that they are VERY defensive over iOS and that no one can officially leave - "they always come back." I don't know, maybe it's just the Android lover in me, but I always feel like I'm an outsider over there and they don't take kindly to people like me.

I think it's good to look for opinions. Sometimes you'll learn something that you never would have figured out on your own. Between the M8 and N5, that's a tough decision. I just ordered the M8 GPE because I really wanted the premium feel of an HTC device with stock android. That's honestly it. And I have my N5 and a spare N5 that I got for free that could cover the extra cost. For the price of the N5, though, it can't be beat. The camera is great, the screen is great, and I don't have much issue with the battery as it usually lasts me the day. When the N6 comes out, I'm sure I'll be looking into that one, as well. I REALLY hope Google doesn't kill off the Nexus program, I think that would be a HUGE mistake.

Thanks for ur input. I'd love to get the GPE M8 but don't really have that kinda money laying around. Maybe I could work out something.

Yeah, I got lucky that I had enough in already purchased goods to cover it. Otherwise I'd probably just hold off because there really isn't anything wrong with the N5. It's honestly a great phone. I wouldn't have any issue using it until the N6 comes out. But the GPE M8 just caught my eye.
