Re: Blown away by performance!
It is. It is a wonderful concept.... Let's build a phone whose raison d'etre is to show off their latest mobile OS, and sell it at a KILLER price. I mean, one of the knocks on the Nexus is that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that one might usually find in a 'flagship' phone.... but its an absolute BEAST when it comes to performance.
About the Nexus's 'lack of goodies'.... Think of the Nexus 5 as one of those Scuderia edition Ferraris..... No plushy whizbangs, 25 speaker audio systems, etc... They put into that car only what they need to run like a raped ape down the track. Remember that KitKat was known as 'Project Svelte'.... Google wanted to streamline Android, make it fast, smooth, and more efficient. They want the phone to kind of step back into the shadows and let the OS stand out in the spotlight. And looking at all the reviews, they nailed that goal.... the first thing that most writeups say is "Wow, never has Android felt so smooth and refined as on the Nexus 5"... they often mention the operating system first, then everything else second.
That's great news. I hope the rumors aren't true. I believe the Nexus line is extremely valuable.
