Nexus 5 charging lead concerns

Hi all
When I have the charging lead plugged into the phone, its about 1mm away from fitting snug against the case. There is about 1mm of metal showing between the case and the plastic of the charge lead.
Its also quite a loose fit with a lot of lateral movement ,feels like a wobbly tooth.
Is this normal for the N5, or do I have a defective unit?

I had precisely the same thing with my charger on my Nexus 7. It wasn't the charger it came with but a generic Verizon model. I'd have to wiggle it to get it to charge.

Interesting, I seem to have the opposite problem. The included Micro USB cable is way too snug when connecting to the phone. It seems like the connector is not completely lined up with the cutout in the housing. I have to insert it at an angle to even get it connected.

yeah mine is loose with the factory cable and the cable from my GS3 that I have installed at my desk at work... I ordered one of these for my night stand at home when I got my Nexus 7

Amazon.com: CHOE UPGRADED Qi Wireless Charger Charging Pad for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, New Nexus 7 Tablet, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Other Qi-Enabled Phones: Cell Phones & Accessories

and I think I am going to order another one for my desk at work to charge from.... It's a slower charge but it gets the job done.. Specially at home over night... Fully charged... Doesn't help much in a car or on the go but at your desk or at home it's a solid solution and solves any USB connection issues...

My connector is fitting just like yours. Did you contact Google yet? Hate to return this, but charging could become a real issue later on.
