Nexus 5: Default camera shutter sound question

When using the default camera with the N5, when I take a photo instead of hearing a camera shutter sound I hear a beep, I'm assuming this is normal unless I use a 3rd party camera app? Just asking cause I don't think I've ever heard a phone "beep" when taking a photo before
