Re: Nexus 5 is better then Iphone
Hands-on with the Nexus 5 | MobileSyrup.com - "The Nexus 5′s screen is also something to behold: while it shares the same IPS technology as the LG G2, which we acclaimed as the best mobile display on the market, it is slightly smaller and therefore sharper. We haven’t had time to compare the fidelity of the two screens side by side, but can safely say that they share excellent colour saturation, unmatched viewing angles and extremely good touch response."
Hands On First Impressions of Google's Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat - "Users will notice that the display is sharp, perhaps akin to Apple’s Retina display. All the details of the icons and content on the phone are pretty clearly visible."
I've also read quite a few other favorable reviews on the screen, but don't remember the source of all of them. I did just finish reading the cnet article you're referring to. They stated that the colors weren't as vivid with the lights completely shut off. But I believe that's to be expected (AMOLED vs. IPS). The advantages of an LCD are wider viewing angles, crisper pictures, color accuracy, and most importantly–in my opinion–visibility in daylight.
I can't count the number of times I've been in my car trying to read my AMOLED screen . . . which didn't even appear to be on at all. I'll personally be very satisfied not having to deal with that anymore.
Where did you read reviews that the screen is one of the best available? I'm genuinely interested. Every review I have read an watched say the screen is crisp and clear, but appears washed out. Most agreed that the One's and G2's screens look better and probably 70% also thought the S4 had a nicer looking screen. I too am a heavy user of Google products. I have a One GPe, Chromebook, use Chrome exclusively (other than testing how web pages I write render in other browsers), rely heavily on Drive, use Hangouts, Gmail, Docs, Google+ and Maps on a daily basis, as well as using Wallet, Keep, and QuickOffice fairly regularly. I agree that Google is doing the most to advance the mobile market at the moment, and I do not think I could switch to another OS. However, when my wife wanted to switch off of Windows Phone, I got her an iPhone. She takes so many pictures on her phone, the camera is by far the most important feature in a phone to her. No Android phone has a camera the works as good as reliably as the iPhone's.
