Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

Re: Nexus 5 is better then Iphone

Where did you read reviews that the screen is one of the best available? I'm genuinely interested. Every review I have read an watched say the screen is crisp and clear, but appears washed out. Most agreed that the One's and G2's screens look better and probably 70% also thought the S4 had a nicer looking screen. I too am a heavy user of Google products. I have a One GPe, Chromebook, use Chrome exclusively (other than testing how web pages I write render in other browsers), rely heavily on Drive, use Hangouts, Gmail, Docs, Google+ and Maps on a daily basis, as well as using Wallet, Keep, and QuickOffice fairly regularly. I agree that Google is doing the most to advance the mobile market at the moment, and I do not think I could switch to another OS. However, when my wife wanted to switch off of Windows Phone, I got her an iPhone. She takes so many pictures on her phone, the camera is by far the most important feature in a phone to her. No Android phone has a camera the works as good as reliably as the iPhone's.

Hands-on with the Nexus 5 | MobileSyrup.com - "The Nexus 5′s screen is also something to behold: while it shares the same IPS technology as the LG G2, which we acclaimed as the best mobile display on the market, it is slightly smaller and therefore sharper. We haven’t had time to compare the fidelity of the two screens side by side, but can safely say that they share excellent colour saturation, unmatched viewing angles and extremely good touch response."

Hands On First Impressions of Google's Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat - "Users will notice that the display is sharp, perhaps akin to Apple’s Retina display. All the details of the icons and content on the phone are pretty clearly visible."

I've also read quite a few other favorable reviews on the screen, but don't remember the source of all of them. I did just finish reading the cnet article you're referring to. They stated that the colors weren't as vivid with the lights completely shut off. But I believe that's to be expected (AMOLED vs. IPS). The advantages of an LCD are wider viewing angles, crisper pictures, color accuracy, and most importantly–in my opinion–visibility in daylight.

I can't count the number of times I've been in my car trying to read my AMOLED screen . . . which didn't even appear to be on at all. I'll personally be very satisfied not having to deal with that anymore.

I've seen the critisism of the screen in more than just the CNet article (I generally don't even read CNet). It may be a great screen, I really can't judge till I see it.

I have a Note 3 and an iPhone 5s. The problem with the iPhone 5s FOR ME is that iOS just feels so so basic after getting accustomed to Android and let's not even get into the puny 5s screen. Sometimes discretion is good and the 5s does that exceedingly well due to its diminutive display. I prefer the scrolling in iOS, it feels smoother. However, I'm finding the 5s to be a device I'm not enjoying using and I'm increasingly glad it's resale value is what it is. Nexus 5 or Optimus G Pro? I'm thinking Optimus G Pro actually...and not just to be different.

The G pro is a nice phone, it was 3rd ish on my list of what I'd want. I still think its a bit big for me but the off contract price of the G pro is simply amazing from AT&T. Not sure why its so cheap but man is that a heck of a deal at $440 imo.

I personally would still go with the N5 over the G Pro though.

They absolutely do............. Just not with the Nexus line.

How so? They clearly do, the Nexus 5 is the most powerful phone in the world

Re: Nexus 5 is better then Iphone

The A7 beats the S800 in several benchmarks so lulz.

The iPhone has significantly less pixels to push so yeah, it's going to perform better but the N5 performs 91% as well as the 5S (Basemark X) with 2.8 times as many pixels...
Edited: Mentioned incorrect benchmark test

No. That's off-screen tests mate. Accept the fact that the A7 is more powerful

I think that anyone looking to purchase a Nexus 5 is doing so mainly for the pure Android experience. Otherwise there are a few options that are arguably better than the Nexus 5 (including its twin, the LG G2, with a larger battery and better camera).

The question also needs to be asked, where do you draw the line on the size of a phone? Personally, I think Google nailed it with the Nexus 5. Although I have an XL hand size, so some may even find the Nexus 5 too large.

The G Pro, although only about half-an-inch larger than the Nexus 5, starts pushing the boundary into Phablet territory, imo. Then again, I suppose it all comes down to personal preference. A buddy of mine has no problem sticking the Note 3 into his pocket, while I think it looks sort of ridiculous.

Androids and iPhones carer to different audiences/tastes. Both have their merits and detrimental such Android being far behind in ease of use. Hardware wise their almost on par but I just admit Apple really knows how to design beautiful devices.

I agree with you, I have never been able to figure out how iOS got this connotation attached to it. Compared to stock android it seems harder to use imo.

Because it has no widgets or things. And what you grow up using will obviously be easier for you. I used iOS for 4 years then switched to Android on Nexus 4 and had certain issues.
