Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

I got the silver model. I already have a black iPad Mini so I wanted a different color from that. Not into the gold color all that much.

Congratulations! I always enjoy investigating both. The iPhone 5s is nice device but the light soda-can grade aluminum they used for the chassis bothers me at a molecular level. Please consider using a case or something to prevent it from getting scratched up, because, without it I fear, just looking at it too hard will invoke damage. That said, you now have a great and simple to use phone with, as far as I'm concerned, the pinnacle of mobile cameras. Enjoy. BTW, what color did you choose?

Again, congrats. I had a 5s for a couple of weeks and I almost kept it permanently. It's still a sliq and nastily-fast device despite my feelings about the build material.

The iPhone is clearly better, especially with macros.
I do not see how the iPhone is clearly better with Macros. I liked that initial test because it shows the exact same show side by side and includes text (something that is much more obvious on macro shots).

These are from the Nexus 5:

It is clearly better. Stop being a fanboy and acknowledge it.

Having both a 5s and a nexus 5, my opinion is that the 5s has a better camera. Zero shutter lag and consistently usable shots.

The nexus 5 I think has more potential, and it's best pictures impress me more than the iPhone's best pictures, but the nexus 5 also produces a high percentage of utter garbage/unusable pictures, while the iPhone only rarely produces garbage.

So fix shutter lag and consistency on nexus 5 and it wins, but until then only a fanboy would pick nexus camera over iPhone camera.

Countless reviews confirm this.

Exactly.

Yes it is better at macros because it has a smaller minimum focusing distance. This is based on the hardware. In most other shots iPhone will win. I am impressed with macros on the n5 as well as carefully composed shots of non moving objects.

Can't wait for Google to release an update that includes the new camera software/API. Too bad the new code was removed prior to Kitkat release because it wasn't ready.

Phone Arena doesn't appear to be one of them.

Good job you've identified an outlier. Have a cookie.

Check out Engadget, the verge, android central, marques brownlee, or just about any other review and it will acknowledge that the n5 camera is very hit or miss. Some will say it's downright bad. Most of those same sites will say the iPhone 5s camera is excellent.

We get it. You prefer the n5 camera. Good for you.

What I find most amusing about this is that we also have the Nexus 5 and are telling him this. It's called being objective, Jeff.

And I think we all acknowledge that the n5 is capable of taking some great pictures. We also acknowledge that the n5, more so then the iPhone, produces some terrible pictures.

Indeed. Unfortunately, unless you tell him that the Nexus 5 can save a cat from a burning building, he doesn't let up. No matter how blatantly wrong he is.
