Nexus 5 or Moto G?

So, right now I have a iPhone 5S as my phone. But I want to go back to android. I am under AT&Ts next plan for the iPhone , so I still need to pay off about 550 dollars on the phone. So my only option is going to be a unlocked off contract phone, and it's between the nexus 5 and moto g.

Obviously the nexus 5 is the more high end phone, but it's also twice as much as the moto G.

Since this is going to be something to get me through until I can upgrade again, would the moto G be the better buy? Or should I just save up the extra 150-200 dollars for the nexus 5?

Am I going to run into performance issues on the moto g when playing games or using apps?

You could also get the Moto X. That's going tone $350 on Monday (Same as N5)
Were you planning on selling the iPhone or keeping it?

I was probably going to sell it. I thought maybe I could get the moto g and then when that arrived then put the iPhone on eBay. That way I'm not without a smartphone while that's shipped off. Then once I get the money for the iPhone, use that money to pay off the iPhone on att next, and then use the moto g until I could afford a nexus 5 or I probably could even get a new , higher end phone when I get another upgrade once the iPhones paid off or whatever.

I don't know if that makes sense, lol

You shouldn't be spending all this money if you don't have to extra cash to spend. Just get the Moto G, but it won't cut it if you need a good camera, since the one on it barely cuts it base on what I've seen. You could buy a used Nexus 4 too for a little higher than the Moto G.

In term of performance you don't have to worry for apps since it should run KitKat smoothly and you can turn on "ART" to get even better performance. It should handle games fine too, just not as good as a Nexus 5, but it depends on what game. If you intend to play high end game you wouldn't buy a 720p 4.5" device in the first place, but a Tegra 4 device instead.

Anyway, except for the camera, I'd still call it an upgrade from the iPhone due to the amount of freedom you'll get. Not having to use iTunes by itself is enough to switch.

From all the reviews, it seem the Moto G have good battery life, easily better than the N5, maybe a major factor for some.

Yeah, but I figured 200 bucks for the moto g wasn't that much money and it would scratch my android needs that my nexus 7 can't and if I like it a lot I could then sell the iPhone. But the moto g might not be a good thing for a full year or more, so I was saying I might them need to upgrade to a better phone in the next year or less.

Sell the iphone on swappa or ebay for 500-600 depending on which model you have. Then take 350 of that and get a Nexus 5. Take the remaining profit of 200 or so and put it towards what you still owe on the next plan for the iphone. Continue to pay the next plan with your monthly bill until it is paid off then never ever ever ever again use the next plan as it is a major rip off. When it first came out I looked into it for my mom's phone and realized how bad it was.

Yeah I thought the same about jump. You're just paying $20+ a month to be able to switch phones and you don't get to keep the ones you don't need anymore :(

Nexus 5 all day long. get something lesser and you will always regret it. buy the best and keep it for a long time.

But while I'm shipping off the iPhone 5,waiting to receive payment from paypal and waiting for nexus 5 to ship to me, I'll be without a phone.

Honestly, I really should just keep the iPhone for now I think. I have other things I should take after financially like fixing my car and etc. first.

But it sucks doing that.

If you sell the iPhone on Swappa, you receive payment via Paypal immediately. You can turn around and order the n5 and greatly cut down your time in between devices. Do you have an old phone you can use or borrow while waiting on the n5?

A old *** flip phone :P

Is swappa better than like gazelle or something?

This question should be answered by your budget. Both phones are the best you can get for the money off contact. If you have enough for the Nexus 5, get that because it is the better phone. However, if you cannot afford the nexus, the moto g is a solid phone for the price.

Never used gazelle but on Swappa the buyers are better educated on what they want and how much it is worth. Yes rock the old flip for a few days:)

Well, on gazelle they'll give me $405 for the 32gb iPhone 5S I have. Not sure if that's good. There's no auction, I'm basically trading the phone into them for money.

Really, I don't know. If I has the choice, I think I'd rather have android instead of iOS in my hand. Buuuuuut maybe I should just be content with what I have?

I'm just no longer a fan of the iOS lockdown anymore.
