Nexus 5: Problems & Issues

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

*sigh* I'm now on my 3rd N5.

First one had dead pixels, second had the charging port break, third better be perfect when it arrives.

Do you remember the batch numbers? Mine is a 311k with no issues. The 311k batch is really good

Both 311k. My first one had 3 dead pixels and one stuck blue pixel. The replacement had a few dead pixels, loose power button, and suddenly a loose charging port. I guess I am just unlucky, but the 3rd time's the charm, right?

Hmm, conflicting apps maybe? If it only shows during that time then I'm guessing it's a software glitch.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

I just received my Nexus 5 yesterday (currently not connected to a carrier). The problem I'm having is every time I reboot the phone my wallpaper changes. Anyone else having this happen?

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

I'm seeing some odd behavior on my N5; this is my first Android device, maybe it's normal.

Under 4.4.0 I found several apps lost their desktop icons when they updated. Suddenly, Doggcatcher and gReader Pro we're missing from the screen. This evening, I had an update to Hipmunk under 4.4.2 do the same thing.

In the case of DC or gR Pro the app could have been open when it updated, but I can be absolutely certain that Hipmunk wasn't open when it updated this evening.

Is this a known problem? Just the way it is?

Thanks.

It doesn't happen all the time but often enough, but it happens on all Android versions. It happens on my phones with ICS & Jelly Bean too. It is probably on the Dev's side of things.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Hi Friends,

I am new to this forum. I own a Nexus 5 32 GB black, which is unlocked and ordered from play store India.

This morning, my phone was fully charged and working fine. When I was going out for ride this morning, kept my mobile in vibration mode, and then kept it in the jacket pocket.

I went to the meeting point and checked my phone, and it was switched off. No matter how many time I try to start it, it does not start.
Then came back home and tried hard reset, that didnt work either. Spoke to play store support and according to the instructions given by them tried to start, reset etc.

Finally it was not working and play store is ready to replace my device with new one. Do you guys faced similar issues anytime? phone recently updated to 4.2.2 also.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Is it possible the weather affected it? Being out in either extreme heat or extreme cold for a while might cause damage. I was just thinking about how cold it is here.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Hooray! 3rd Nexus 5 arrived (312k).

Some light bleed and a dead pixel in the upper left that I can live with. Otherwise, it has a solid power button and excellent battery so far. I am finally happy.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Why is my N5 deleting my saved photos from the web ? jpg and gif .

Alright so I have 108 save pics from the web if I save a pic from the web it deletes the very last saved pic , save two it deletes the very last two . so on and so forth . It pretty much seems like it's set to delete after a x amount of saved photos , but I checked my settings and there's no settings like that for photos

Oh and it doesn't even delete them really , you can see the photos in the galleries view but when you select the pic to view in full screen it says media not found

Right hand side of screen has gone dead, about 5% of total screen area, will call Google when they're open. This resulted in some fairly embarrassing phone activity where it was pressing buttons onscreen which were in the dead area and I had no control over it...

Pretty sure they are open 24/7.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Hi everyone, long time reader of android central, first time poster.

I've had 4 android devices in the past 3 years, all high end, but this is the first time I've met this issue. I hope somebody has some tips.

Every now and then, happened twice now, got the phone delivered 2 days after release, Google services kills my battery at night. I put the phone in "night" mode ( sound off, mobile and WiFi data off) when I go to sleep, battery at 70+ percent ( I charge in the car on the way to and from work), and by morning it's just dead and needs to be charged. If I check battery usage, I can see that in 7 or so hours Google services drained the battery. (Not play services, just plain Google services, icon looks like the contacts icon) I also notice WiFi has used a surprising percentage, although it was turned off.

Anyone else had anything like this happen?

Seems like a common problem. Haven't seen a solution but I haven't really done digging as I haven't had the problem. I would try a factory reset. Maybe someone has an easier solution... The reason the WiFi service is still sucking down power is because Android now can still scan for nearby networks for location services. The option is in WiFi > Settings > Advanced Settings > Scanning Always Available.

Hi, nice that you're saying hello! Did you try just rebooting? I don't know if it will clear it up but it's simple to try. As was said by gidgidonnahah it's a common problem but I also haven't had that one.
