Nexus 5: Problems & Issues

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Hmmm. Got my new one last week. Used it as my main phone for the first time today. Happened to stop into best buy to get some stuff for my new ps4 (awesomeness, btw), and they had the nexus 5 out on the google endcap. What do you know, the one on display has a noticeably cooler and more accurate display. Called google about getting another replacement, but they can't do it until they have the other one.

I also think I may ask for a black replacement. It seems the white ones have a lot of the issues. (I originally had a black one, and it had zero issues at all)

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Here's my Nexus5 problem. I can't find a store or a place where i can actually hold one in my hand. I don't know anyone in my area that actually owns one. I will not buy a "pig in a poke", as they say, until i get to see how it feels, and what it can do. Now, i've been trying to find somewhere in SW Fla., where i can get to see one, since the beginning of Dec., with no luck. Very frustrating, to say the least. The phone looks great in pictures, but if i can't hold it in my hand, i'm not buying it.:'(
P.S. I've tried all the major carriers, hoping to get a look at "their version" of the N5, but no luck.

Tmobile carries in stock...

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

I'm having an issue with my speaker. It will occasionally deactivate for no reason, even though all the volume settings are set to max. Notifications and calls will only vibrate the phone. Music or other media will play through the earpiece speaker, strangely enough.

The issue goes away when I restart the phone, but this has happened once a day for the past three days. It's getting a bit annoying. Has anyone else dealt with this or know what a permanent solution would be? Thanks.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Something weird occurs when I connect my Nexus 5 via bluetooth to any audio device. First thing that happens is that the volume buttons on the side stop working. Well, they don't entirely stop work but it doesn't turn up the bluetooth volume itself. It instead shows that it is putting the phone ringer volume up or down but it doesn't actually do that either. So I'm stuck with a bluetooth connection that doesn't allow me adjust the volume. Secondly, after I disconnect the audio device from my bluetooth, it stays stuck on putting the ringer volume up or down, still without actually doing it. When I attempt to play a song or a video the sound now comes out the phone headset instead of its speakers. I then have to power off and on my phone in order to get it back to normal. Does any know of any fix to this? Is anyone experiencing this same issue?

Thank you all!

Much appreciated!

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Aren't they $100 more expensive and only carry the 16GB model like BB?

They are, he just wanted to see one in person so that's why I suggested he go see one there.

Called a BestBuy Mobile store, and they have a mock-up to look at, but no actual N5 in the store. This is too much. I guess i'll stay with my SGSIII.:(

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

I curious what you and the other guys(nexus89) batch number is.The first three Numbers in your serial number. It will be 310, 311, or 312. 310 is the first batch released. Mine is 311 and i dont have the phone not ringing issues or GPS issues.

Mine is 310 and I am still having issues. Not getting a lock...taking very long to get one. I tried all 3 settings in location...device only, battery saving and a third one.

Should I return this? Or is there a fix? Can I still even return it, I ordered when it first came out

You have a year with Google if it is something you didnt break, such as the screen. Got mine right before Thanksgiving and i got a replacement today. Going to decide which to keep since i really dont have a problem anymore with my first one. Their support talked me through some things and it is fixed. But i didnt have your problem.

The replacement is a 312 and the holes arent bigger, speaker isnt louder. Now its going to be up to the battery. Screens are about the same. Each one looks better at times on different pages....weird.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

Hi, first post here. I just bought my nexus 5 at local store and after reading your comments I noticed that I have the 310 version. Should I return it and order one from the google store to get the 312 version?

Thanks

Unless the phone has problems, no. It isn't true that they made subsequent phones with bigger speaker holes. I guess we were just hoping, but the speaker is not bad since the updates. :-)

I don't have any problems yet, but could I avoid future problems by getting the 312 version?
Thanks

Not according to the people who got their first and second replacements. :-) I have a launch phone and it's doing fine.

Not if you dont have any issues. I just got a 312 version sent as a replacement and its no different than my 311 except that the 312 screen has a bit of a yellow tint to it and for that, it is probably going back. The holes arent bigger on the speakers and the speakers arent louder. Buttons arent any tighter..which wasnt a problem for me anyways.

My 311 is working fine but they sent me a link for a replacement before i called again and got talked thru some couple issues i had and now all is fine.

Re: Nexus 5 Problems & Issues

32GB black.

Sent the 312 replacement back today, kept my original 311.

Hmmm. I was hoping the problems were more related to the white models. (A lot of the posts I've seen about problems have been for white devices) Might just have to return mine and wait a bit to get another.

T-mobile stores usually have them on display.

I know the 311 and the 312 version is pretty much the same design. But apparently, there is a difference with speakers hole size and tighter buttons between the 310 (the one I have) and 311/312 version.
