Nexus 5 Reception

How is the Nexus 5s reception?

I am using mine on Sprint and compared to my GS3 that it replaced my reception is slightly better.. I get a faint LTE signal at work when I never saw LTE on my GS3.. Problem is at work that faint LTE signal was killing my batter.. So much that at work I have my phone set to 3G only to improve battery life...

My experience is it is subpar. Compared to my Moto X, Note 3 and iPhone 5s in the same spot the Nexus has performed the worst of the bunch. The other thing I noticed it is not as quick to drop LTE for a HSPA signal. In theory, this could be a good thing, but it appears to drop data all together before making the switch. I will keep an eye in this. As long as performance isn't hurt, it may be a non issue, but I do have concerns about getting a signal in weaker areas and potential for dropped calls.

Excellent for me. I'm on AT&T in a very well-served/covered market, so that might be it.

I am out of contract and thinking of switching to AT&T.... Their coverage in Dallas seems to be a lot better compared to two friends I work with who have GS4's on AT&T they blow me out of the water for coverage and speed.... I've also found that even getting rid of my so called "Unlimited" plan I rarely use more than 2 - 2.5 gig of Data per month max and the 6 gig plan with AT&T out of contract with my employer discount is CHEAPER than my so called unlimited plan with Sprint....

How much would the AT&T plan be for you? I've got straighttalk AT&T for $45/month and that has a 2.5GB cap on high speed data. If you don't need more than 2.5GB, it's a hard price to beat.

With my corporate discount their 2 gig plan is $50 a month minus 25% so it would come out to like $37 plus taxes for unlimited talk, text and 2 gig data...... and if I bumped it up to 4 gig it's $70 minus the 25% corporate discount $52.50 plus taxes... and they don't throttle you back just charge you $15 for an extra gig (Which isn't discounted) I was thinking of going to the 4 gig plan for a month or two.... I've never gone over 3 gig in a month but that might be because of how SLOW Sprint is... I've looked into the straight talk plans as well..... I paid almost $80 a month now with Sprint unlimited everything minus my corporate discount....

Excellent 4G reception, picking it up in places my HTC One never would and holding it longer. 3G reception is about the same, still roam in the same places I always have. I'm on Sprint btw.

Mine seems good when in a strong signal area. I just moved from ST AT&T to GoPhone. Where I live, there's no difference --both are poor. But, hubby's iPhone 4s (gophone) shows same signal power. N5 does same as N4 (both better than Galaxy Nexus) except it takes a long time for N5 to register a signal when the signal is weak (lower than -109dBm).

Not as good as it should be.My wifes S3 beat my Nexus 4 and now my Nexus 5 hands down for reception/connectivity.

Since posting this, my signal reception began to disappear (No Service -140dBm) for major parts of the day. IPhone on same service has signal. Obviously, no phone calls can get through. Others have the problem which google is supposedly "watching."
