Hello,
I have a problem with my Nexus 5. I was just texting on my phone, put it down and heard a notification, I go pick it up and try to respond to the text and the screen suddenly doesn't work. The hardware buttons work but not the screen. The screen isn't cracked or anything. I tried to reboot, took the sim card out and nothing. I have pictures and numbers on my phone that I don't want to lose. I hope something can help me out. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean when you say "nothing" after you tried to reboot and remove the SIM? Was the screen still on and frozen?

If you're unable to turn off the screen, try forcing a shutdown by pressing and holding the Power button for about 10-15 seconds.

Thanks B. Diddy, I'm a long time lurker haha.
I did a shutdown and turned it back on but the screen still doesn't respond. Also, a reboot and taking the sim card out. I read somewhere that I should try using a better charger, I don't know how much that holds true, but I'm giving that a shot. I feel lost without it now....haha.

Thanks for you help B Diddy, I followed the recovery link you provide; and it works now. It was weird....

I've had that happen a few times - like you I had to hold in the power button until it restarted. My N5 has been very stable previously. It is a Jan 2015 model so relatively new, and came with Lollipop v 5.0 - I have flashed it a few times, most recently with 5.1.1, and made sure I wiped the cache. It is just downloading a small OTA update which says 'stability updates' so let's hope that sorts it.

The small update is probably the Stagefright patch, but I guess there could be a few bugfixes thrown in for good measure.
