Nexus 5 speaker

You act like listening to the one on high volume is loud as hell.

Q10, HTC One, Nexus 7, Moto X

Yes it is. It's loud and it's obnoxious. I have people on the bus/trains in new York blasting music with cheaper phones and it's annoying as is. My friend has the one and tried showing me the speakers. It's pretty loud. But to each his own.

How exactly does it change the sound. Does it have louder volume, or better EQ settings?

Posted from the awesome new Nexus 7
Both. The touch sounds volumes have increased dramatically but I think the notification/ringtone volumes are same. As for eq, the speaker just sounds clear and less distortion.

When I would listen to Daft Punks Alive(Live) album, the bass just muffled the song and sounded like the speaker was deep inside the phone. Not anymore..

The speaker on the Nexus 5 is not very good. That is a COLD HARD FACT. People need to move past this issue and let it die. If you need a phone to blast your music so everyone can hear you should not even be looking at a Nexus Device you should be in the HTC ONE or Samsung Note 3 range. To be perfectly honest the Nexus 5 is $350 dollars...unsubsidized...So yes the Moto X was that price but it was not made to be that price. The nexus 5 was MADE to be that price. You are getting what you are paying for. You can not simply expect Google and LG to put out a device that is a perfect ten all around. Dont get me wrong. I LOVE my Nexus 5, LOVE it...But I do understand that the camera is nothing to be jumping up and down about, That the speaker is just enough to hear netflix and youtube. Looking past these flaws you got a top of the line phone running the latest android with the latest processor and a amazing 1080p screen with a stunning form factor to boot. Just enjoy it as it is and be happy you live in a world were a company's like Motorola and Google exist that are willing to cut profit margins in order to get amazing hardware into more people's hands. If every phone cost $750 what is the point of having a great speaker if you cant afford it?

Well hey, thanks for the tips , however, I would like my ringer to be louder if that's OK with you. I don't work in a office where it is quiet most of the time so sorry , but I disagree and it wouldn't hurt to have a speaker that is louder. That wouldn't cost anything and only a tweak in the software would do it.

A tweak in the software will only go so far the speaker with that speaker. And it would not hurt to have a speaker that is loud not at all infact I think most people would rather have a generally loud speaker that is somewhat distorted then a level toned speaker that is really clear. But my point being is again you paid $350-$400 for that Nexus 5. Cut LG some slack. If you purchased it you already know it is an amazing phone with an even better price. If it was really as easy as a simple software tweak Google would have done it already I.E android 4.4.1 to fix the Camera issue.

I've just never been blown away by a smartphone speaker (never used the HTC One) but even if I was, I don't know how much it would matter. I have two pairs of pretty expensive ear buds, and my next headphone purchase will be some Bose over the ear. Almost every time I can hear someone else's phone speakers, I get annoyed because it's in a public place and either I don't like their music, or it's a personal call that everyone doesn't need to hear. For what the Nexus 5 is, the speaker is perfectly fine for me. I get that it's not ideal for everyone, but it is what it is.
