Nexus 5: Unable to connect to Google Services

Cannot connect to any google services - email / playstore / search / maps / google cards / Hangouts - delay in SMS.
Can do yahoo search / e mail from preloaded e mail app.
Using Nexus 5 KitKat 4.4.2 Version KOT49H
In the settings menu - the WiFi is orange in colour - click - wifi connects to other sites
Please help.

Today i had a similar problem. I chked various sites but did not find the reason. But luckily i got everything worked out just by correcting my time and date settings. Yes, google services failed to work because of the time and date settings. My date and time changed to some random values earlier today. Since then i was not able to access any google related apps and google related websites on chrome. After correcting date and time everything started wirking again.
