Nexus 5 VS Galaxy S3 LTE (T-Mobile)

One other issue came up. With Touchwiz you could left swipe to text from contacts and right swipe to call. In people with the N5, when I right swipe it brings up a useless menu. Left swiping the contact does nothing.

What issue! I prefer how the N5 handles it :) When on the contact's page in People, no need to swipe. Click on the phone number, it dials. Click to the right of the phone number, it goes directly to your SMS app ready to message. Click on the email address, it starts an email. Click on the address, and Google Maps starts with the address located.

I use these features daily during work. And when I need hands free, OK Google rocks :)

I sold the SG3 last week so I am keeping the N5. While I was preparing the SG3 for sale after playing with the N5 for about 5 days I didn't see much difference in the time when I pressed an icon and it took to do the command I requested.

I'm surprised you didn't see much difference in terms of speed between the two. May be 5 days wasn't long enough or may be your GS3 was faster than mine for some reason (mine is on 4.3)

Some Touchwiz things are really nice, better than stock android imo. I like the functionality of Touchwiz dialer - speed dials are there (am I the only one using it?:) ), the call log shows date and time, not how long ago calls took pace. I'm sure there are plenty of dialers that have have the Touchwiz features and stock android looks, just need to look for one.

In my case N5 would have been (almost) perfect if not for the microphone issue. You have to hold your phone close to your mouth in order to be heard, or use speakerphone. GS3 microphone works exactly the same regardless whether speakerphone is on or not, while the noise cancellation on GS3 is excellent. When I'm in meetings that last hours the phone is always on my desk, about 1ft away from my mouth, I never ever use speakerphone and everyone can hear me well. With N5 speakerphone or headset must be used or I'd have to hold it 2-3 inches away from my mouth.. else nobody will hear a word.

Fortunately, this is definitely not an issue with all N5 phones, as I use the speakerphone function almost daily.

You are missing the point or I wasn't clear - It works when you use speakerphone. It doesn't when you don't.
With speakers being loud enough in this phone as well as Galaxy, I almost never use speakerphone when the phone is on my desk, but with N5 you have to.

On the SG3, while on the list of contacts you could swipe the name to the left to text, to the right to call. You didn't have to open the contact and then select the action. It saved a step.
