I'm technologically illiterate. Since I got lollipop a while back my keyboard has not worked correctly. Plus scrolling on my phone is not smooth. I wiped the cache partition. I never had a problem before. I've even already had the newest update and bug fix. I don't have a clue what to do, I type all the time. The phone is only a year old and I feel like throwing it against a wall. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks. I don't have a computer to back up my photos and I don't want to lose them when I do a factory reset.

I don't blame you. I absolutely dread factory resets. Have you tried another keyboard yet?

Like brosko I don't much care for factory resetting but most of what's on the device can be restored afterwards. You will lose your SMS texts however (I discovered this AFTER resetting) but even they can be backed first with an app. But you won't lose photos and other personal data....look in Settings, Backup And Reset.

Read Paul627g's article about SMS backup:

Something else you normally lose is your call log. Some app data as well. It's a pesky nuisance.

You don't need a computer to backup your photos. But in the "photos" app I'm sure there is a setting to backup in the cloud. Every photo I take or have on my phone is online. Doesn't matter what happens to the phone.

Technology is great, yet frustrating. True.

Thanks everyone. I have tried other keyboards it does the same thing. The only thing I'm worried about losing is my photos as far as a reset goes. I've looked at a lot of the back up apps. Seems I can find comments from people that have a problem restoring photos. Don't really want to take that chance. The keyboard works fine sometimes. Maybe I will just deal with it and hope they come out with a 2nd round of bug fixes for lollipop and hope that fixes it.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode, which prevents all 3rd party apps from starting up? If the problems disappear, then you know that something you installed is causing the instability--but the challenge then is figuring out which app. Sometimes you have to uninstall apps one by one until the behavior goes away.
