Nexus 5X through Project Fi

So I currently have AT&T and need to get a new phone. I am set on getting the Nexus 5X. I can get the Nexus 5X through Project Fi for cheap.

Does anyone know if all I have to do is, activate the phone on project fi(to keep the discount) then just replace the sim card with my at&t sim and be back on my AT&T network? Or is there more to it than that?

I believe the stipulation for the $199 deal is that it's activated on Fi within 30 days. What you with it once it's activated is up to you.
