Nexus 5X won't power on

Was charging the 5X while powered off and the battery indicator displayed full. Unplugged phone and now it won't power on. Any ideas?

Never had this happen to my 5X, but on a few Motorola phones if you hold the power button and then put the power cord (plugging into a power outlet of course) into the port, the phone will power on.

I wasn't sure you could charge the device while it was off because when we received our 5X's I planned on charging them first but when I hooked up the charger while the phones were off both devices automatically started up.
