Recently my phone froze while running Google Auto. I turned it off an on again and afterwards the system seems corrupted in some way. No amount of restarting helps.
Symptoms:
I've found this issue described in other threads for other devices:
(Note that none of these mention Google Auto, so I suspect the fact I happened to be running that when this happened may be a red herring.)
The S7 thread includes a thorough description of a fix, which seems to help a lot of people. It involves using Nova Launcher to launch a particular "SetupWizard" activity, but this activity isn't available for me. I suspect that's because my phone is running 7.0.
So, I'm about to do a factory reset, since the Pixel thread suggests this has helped (although not permenantly), but I'm putting this out there to see if anyone else has run into this, and found a solution to it?

Symptoms:
- The notification bar can only pulled down a short way (some icons visible) but not the full expansion.
- No notifications ever appear (although the sound of their arrival is heard)
- The "home" button doesn't work. A click is registered (vibration/animation) not no action is triggered. I have to "back" my way out of everything.
- The "recent apps" switcher button similarly doesn't work.
- Exchange syncing stopped working, likewise Google Keep no longer syncs. Probably other things aren't syncing either. :/
- Certain parts of the "Settings" are inaccessible, such as switching users.
- The phone seems to always indicate that data connection (via the sim card) is disabled, even though it does work.
- Various other oddities.
