Nexus 6 and 5GHz

Not sure if this has been covered; I had looked but couldn't find info I was after...

Received my Nexus 6 yesterday and it wouldn't find the 5GHz signal on my wireless router (I've a lot of Apple stuff so always use 5GHz etc...)

Found out that the N6 won't see channels much about 36 (my router was set to 100-104) so I've changed it to 36-34 and it's spot on now with all devices inc. the Nexus 6

Glad you got it going, but it's not true that the Nexus 6 will not connect on 5GHz upper channels. My wife's N6 has always run on 149 or 153 and typically does so at 270-320Mbps.

It's good practice when using 5GHz to use channels well over 100, over 150 if interference is not a problem.

It wouldn't see any of the higher channels my Virgin Media SuperHub 2 was kicking out but would see all on and below 36!

Odd but I'm connected anyway so that's all was needed

I am sure that Google will be adding more 5GHz options to the Nexus 6's radio but only because LAA or LTE-U Micro-Cells are coming in 2016 that will be using the unlicensed 5Ghz spectrum for micro cell LAA transmitters for sporting events, airports, large commercial building .... etc that cover 100 sq. foot to 1000 sq. foot areas. Verizon, T-Mobile push unlicensed LTE forward - but concerns remain - FierceWireless
