"The first is that the headphone jack seems a bit underpowered and doesn't produce anywhere near the volume level my S3 had with the same earbuds and software (PowerAmp)"

I am finding the same issue, however, not using PowerAmp - just using Google Music. It just doesn't get as loud as my S5 did.

Anyone else experiencing this, and is there a setting that I am missing?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter!

I find the N6 to be about equal volume wise to my previous devices. There is synthesizer controls in settings, I usually leave it off, but you could always fiddle with that. When I listen to music though I use my comply foam isolation tips. Those things are amazing. When you put them in, you can't hear anything going on around you.
