I just got my Nexus 6 about 3 months ago, and I absolutely love it, so I highly recommend getting the Nexus 6.

That being said, since it is getting so close to the debut of the 2015 Nexus devices (most likely in October) you might want to wait about a month, since most likely the price of the 2014 Nexus 6 will drop a bit.

Also, just my personal opinion, I would definitely get the 2014 Motorola Nexus 6, instead of the 2015 Nexus 6.

I highly recommend this phone, however ... Its big so as long as you dont mind carrying it in your hand, its uncomfortable in your back pocket with a case. The ultra HD camera is amazing. Loudest speakers Ive ever seen, and very fast. Root it with Chroma and the battery life increases exponentially.

I bought one for $380, and I am happy I made that decision. It doesn't seem it wouldn't go any lower, but if I were you, jump on it and buy it if you can. Well worthwhile.

I'd say that unless you need a new phone right now, I'd wait a little bit. There are two new Nexus phones coming in about two months or so.... when they come out, a couple of things will happen. First, you'll have three Nexus phones to pick from. :) Second, regardless of whether or not you want to purchase either the LG or the Huawei Nexus, their launch will most likely cause a price drop on the Nexus 6. Google (or Motorola) will likely have a price drop on new, and with the influx of used Nexus 6's put on the market, that should reduce prices there as well.

I've been advocating that people not wait and get a Nexus 6 for months, but at this point I agree with LeoRex - it's so close to the launch date that you may as well see what launches and then compare your options. At worst you should be able to pick up an N6 2014 for a good price, and it may be that you prefer one of the new Nexus options.

Too late in the game to be jumping in now. We are just few weeks away from the next Nexus round. I would have had a different answer had u asked couple months ago.

At this point, I would also consider the upcoming Moto Style as a viable option. It isn't a Nexus but should have most of the positives of the Nexus 6, the software features of the Moto X, and be easily rootable and bootloader unlocked, since it's bypassing the traditional carriers.

Price wise, it should also be reasonable, when compared to the Nexus 6 and 2015.

I may be a little biased, since I prefer Motorola as an OEM, compared to LG and Huawei.

I got the Nexus 6 only 2 days ago and I do not regret it at all. I love the style and build quality as well as stock android so it was a no brainer. I swapped a Samsung Galaxy S6 for it.

I second this. Since it's already this late in the year, unless you have duct tape holding your phone together, I'd say wait until the new devices launch and at the very least you'll be able to grab a N6 (Googlerola edition) dirt cheap. And at the most you'll grab a brand new Nexus device.

I did something similar. I had an iPhone 6 Plus and just wanted something different. I got a 64gb one from Amazon and don't regret it. From the rumors, seems like the Nexus 6 should be okay for a bit.

Another thought into my purchase is the fact that I am on Verizon. If I waited for this year's model, chances are I'd end up waiting until at least early next year for Verizon to get their **** together and do the Nexus proper service. Look how long it took to get the Nexus 6 squared away. Especially the ones that you didn't buy direct from them at the higher price.

There are plenty of people out there using Nexus 4's... which are nearly 3 years old now. We're almost a year from release and the Nexus 6 is still a pretty good phone in and of itself. It'll easily last another year without breaking a sweat, maybe two. We're starting to hit a plateau with phones where, provided they don't break, their usable life has increased dramatically.

It's a condensed version of what happened with desktops. Back in the day, every few months, computers were not only better, they were MUCH better. Processors doubled in speed, RAM and disk prices dropped fast, etc. But things kind of ground to a bit of a halt. If you bought a halfway decent desktop or laptop in the last, oh, 5 years or so, it most likely is still humming along without a care in the world. I have a 4 1/2 year-old Dell i5 laptop... still runs great. Not 'well, it gets the job done ok' great... it is still 100% capable and isn't showing really any signs of aging (other than the battery that I just replaced).

Mobile phones are quickly getting to that point. If phones from 3 years ago are still somewhat viable now, current phones will be even more viable a couple of years from now.

If you need a new phone now then buy it. If you can wait, then wait. Wait for the new one to come out and the N6 price will drop then I would buy it. N6 will be more then capable of handling whatever is thrown at it for at least 2 more years. We are at the point where processor specs are just increase in model numbers. On paper it shows improvement but in real work usage, no difference.

My Dell Latitude is 3 1/2 yrs old and still runs like new. But I'm running Ubuntu on it which is less resource intensive than Windows. I also put 8gb RAM and an SSD in it. It flies like the wind.

Anyway, the Nexus 6 will be a good choice for at least 2 years. For that matter, my backup phone is a HTC G1 (the very first android phone) and it does the basics well, like calls, texts, Pandora, Maps, etc..... and that phone is 7 yrs old. Still usable as a basic phone.

I fully intend on using my Nexus 6 for 1.5 - 2 years, which will then be replaced by the newest Nexus of the time.
