I bought an unlocked new Nexus 6 off Amazon a week ago. I tried pairing my card with Google Pay but it says my device is "rooted" or something else. I never rooted it. I also checked the PlayStore and my status is "uncertified" Is there an easy way to certify my phone without any system tampering?

It means that something has been changed with the system. I'd ask for a refund.

I did root check and it said the phone wasn't rooted. But I think the bootloader was unlocked because it shows an open lock when I turn on the phone. I put a case/screen protector on it already.

If the bootloader is unlocked, you can easily relock it.

I think if rooted with Magisk it should pass safety check. I suggest Google, go to devs forum & read read read.
