AC Question
I have a Nexus 6 that has been a great phone until the past couple of months. Lately the issues I've been having are that the phone will randomly die on me with 50% or higher charge left on the battery (had it die at 93% once). When it happens if you hit the power button it brings up the dead battery icon. Hold power, boot up the phone, still indicates whatever charge level it was at before it "died."
Also, for some reason recently it started playing the alarm sound incredibly low. It will be full, normal volume for a split second initially and then duck to an extremely low level, and remain there the rest of the time that the alarm is going off. So, now I can't trust it to stay on overnight even with a full charge (so I leave it plugged in), and I can't trust it to wake me up for work in the morning. I checked the volume settings of course, all fine. When I go into the alarm specific settings (within the alarm app) and adjust volume there it doesn't change no matter what the level is at, really odd behavior.
I'm due for an upgrade anyway through my carrier (AT&T), and I was considering the Samsung S7 Edge or the LG V20. However, this is a really awkward time to upgrade. With all the major companies putting out new models in the coming months it makes no sense to upgrade now only to be paying the same installments on a phone that is obsolete in the market within 6 months. A friend told me I should root and install a ROM until the new phones come out and then upgrade, couldn't hurt I suppose.
Anyway, posting on here hoping to get some opinions on what to do at this point. I planned to upgrade this week on payday, but realized the timing of everything with new phones just around the corner so I'd rather not until then, just not sure if I can stand the issues for another few months.
