Nexus 6P base price.... 499.99!

I'm not usually an early adopter, as I prefer to wait for reviews and accessories. Hopefully there won't be any problems with availability like last year's debacle with Moto, and I can get in on the second batch in January, I guess, depending on when it's out.

oh there will be problems, trust me! the Nexus 4 was a nightmare, and so we're the others. i actually went to order the Nexus 6 last year but couldn't and got fed up.

best bet is to wait for the second or third batch, check out some reviews and enjoy your phone when it gets here. I'll preorder tmrw, but I'm not gonna deal with constantly hitting F5 and certainly won't settle for a color or storage option I don't like

Ugh, last year was a nightmare! After a certain point, I was just like, fudge (lol) this.

Do you think we'll find out tomorrow if the various carriers are also going to stock this?

I am all for freedom from the carriers, but some specific promotions require that you purchase through the carriers.

The Nexus 6 was also easier to get from the carrier channels than from Google and Motorola in the beginning.

No stock for carriers according to AndroidPolice.

I'm thinking it will be an improvement over last year. There's actually an event and pre ordering scheduled. They used to just magically show up in the play store for sale haha.

Everyone make sure your google wallet info is up to date so you can check out hassle free

Great suggestion, thank you I didn't even think of that.

On another note, I was way off on the pricing. I fully expected this to start at 599.

I haven't heard anything regarding a notification light on either phone, so I assume Ambient Display will make a return. I was hoping they would have double tap to wake, too.

I could be way of base, but I always thought double tap is proprietary software owned by HTC ... not 100% sure though

You really think that ? Lg had that way before HTC put it in ....

I guess you didn't catch the part where I said I "might be way of base" ... oh and when I also said that I'm "not 100% sure" ... but yeah, I really think that. I mean, wasn't it obvious ... genius?

1. I'm sure this year will be different because Google finally figured out that pre-order means you can have a many people order it as want one and then you ship them out as you make them.

Thus the days of the messed up nexus launch are gone forever.

2. The best time to buy a new nexus is a year later just before the launch of the newest model when they are on clearance.

64 gb nexus 6 can be had for $369.

Anytime who doesn't think that is a great deal shouldn't be allowed to live😉

Yes yes. Listen to him. Do not get in my way of getting my 6P. Thank you.

there's no doubt the better deal is to wait a year. I bought the Nexus 6 for $350, so nobody knows that better than me. but I need a second phone, and this is certainly a luxury item. electronics are one of the very few things I treat myself to, and an extra $200 for a device that'll last me 3 years is something I worked hard for and don't mind treating myself to.

of course my wife would agree with you, but that's a different story!

I wouldn't be so sure Google finally figured it out. they didn't figure it out for the Nexus 4, didn't learn their lesson for the 5, and again for the 6. you'd think they'd finally get it straight, but until I see it, I certainly wouldn't conclude that they've solved their inventory issues.

Any information on the spec and special features? I think I'm due an upgrade (I'm stuck between Note 5 and Nexus 6P).

So if I am on Sprint without a current contract, and willing to commit to another 2 year contract (I know, I must be crazy), what would the price be? Or will this option not be available at first?

Carriers will not be selling this phone. So it's not an option.

Anyone else think that the rumored 2GB on board for the Nexus 5x throws up a little bit of a caution flag?

Nah... The Nexus 5 runs perfectly fine on 2G. The 5X, especially with a 1080P display (GPU shares memory with the system), will do nicely at the same level. People have been getting way too worked up over the amount of memory.

Qualcomm owns the licensing to the DT2W features (as well as the 'always listening' stuff too) on the Snapdragon phones. It's a kernel function that interfaces with ultra low-power modes in the Qualcomm SoCs. That's why 'native' double tap to wake functions use so little power.
