So far, I love this Nexus 6P. But, my biggest gripe with it is the location (and sensitivity) of the Power and Volume buttons. They're smack in the middle of the phone's side. When I go to pick up the phone, I naturally grab it at the middle (safest and most secure). When I'm trying to plug in/out the USB cord (the USB C port is a tight fit), again, I naturally grab the phone in the middle. I'm constantly hitting those buttons (turning the phone off (well, the prompt, anyway), messing with the volume, turning on the camera, taking screenshots, generating bug reports -- perhaps I exaggerate, I haven't done the last one yet). I don't know what they were thinking putting those buttons there. Hopefully, I'll learn how to pick the phone up differently over time and won't keep doing those things.

I'm sure everybody has issues with one thing or another, but... no, I don't have an issue with this. I have used a number of phones through the years. Each is a little different (no two are the same). Learn to adapt.

I agree...I hate the placement. Volume rocker should be on the opposite side IMO

I don't mind the placement of the buttons so much, I think any higher and I'd have a more difficult time reaching them. I do think they're much too sensitive, though. I barely have to press to activate them so like you I've been inadvertently turning the screen on/off, adjusting the volume, etc. It's like that even with a case on. This is my only gripe about the phone so far though so I think I'll live.

Yep. I liked the placement on the Nexus 5, too. Though I really wouldn't have a problem with both buttons being on the same side of the phone if, as pr627 mentioned, they were up an inch or so higher.

I just have an issue with them mainly being in the middle of the phone. My car mount doesn't fair well with it.

the button placement is, unexpectedly, my biggest gripe, too. I had reservations that I wasn't going to like the large screen, or the weight, or something else. But the buttons are really bugging me. I'm constantly hitting them, especially when trying to plug in the charger cable. My case is getting delivered tomorrow, and I really hope that helps some. If it doesn't help with the buttons themselves, it should at least let met get an easier grip on the phone when plugging in the charger, or picking it up.

I had been considering going naked with the 6P. But, for the exact same reasons you mentioned, I'm going to buy a case and see if it helps.

I agree with the majority here. Button placement needs to be higher up on the phone, maybe with the volume on the left side. I keep hitting both buttons whenever I pick up the phone.

I'm not going to make a big deal of the button placement because I haven't had excessive difficulty with it (despite my enormous hands), but I will say that I've always been a fan of the samsung-style button arrangement rather than the motorola-style, but for some reason the motorola-style arrangement has become prevalent (despite its relative inconvenience)

Add me to the club. I absolutely love everything about this phone so far, but my one quibble is the power button and volume rocker placement; mostly the power button. I thought this was mostly because I've had an LG G2 for 2+ years, and have gotten used to the (very stiff) buttons on the back of the phone. This is partially the issue, but I do fee the power button in particular could be about an inch - or even half an inch - higher and it would help me avoid pressing it inadvertently all the time (pressing the volume rocker is less problematic in terms of unintended consequences). All that having been said, I'll get used to it, and if this is my only quibble with the phone (and it is so far), I'll feel fortunate.
I'm also lucky that my car cradle side bracket/arm strikes the phone at the volume rocker and doesn't seem to press hard enough to cause any problems. I am also "going naked" right now (and loving it), but do have a case on the way and am hoping that may help with the power button.
*EDIT* when I wrote the above, I hadn't realized that I had not yet done a commute with Waze active. This morning I realized that the side bracket on my car cradle tends to either crank the volume all the way up or down. I was finally able to find a middle ground, but it took several tries. I have an idea for a spacer for the small gap between the power button and the volume rocker, but will wait to see if the case I ordered (which arrives tomorrow) solves the problem.

It's not gonna "grow" on me because I hate inadvertently changing the volume while picking up the device. I'm working on altering how I normally pick up devices in order to avoid pressing the volume keys.

I just got my 6p last weekend, and this too is my biggest gripe. I can't believe after all the reviews I read, that not a single one pointed this out. I did get my case today which I think will make it OK. It covers the buttons with buttons of its own, making you have to press harder for power or volume to engage. Other than this issue, I love the new phone.
