Nexus 6p Not Updating

I ran it again. This time I ran "adb sideload" and it gave me the same error. So I unplugged/replugged the cable and ran it again. It worked! I'm now on MMB29Q! And guess what? The March update notification popped right up! Done!

Thanks for all the help! Learned a lot today!

Sideloading really isn't that difficult once you get into it, but getting the updates actually OTA sure is easier!

Next level is flashing. That way you don't even have to wait for OTA zip files. It's also cleaner as you are getting the image files from the source (Google). Good job none the less.

I always flash but been lazy lately and the March update has not showed up yet. My 5x though is all up to March. 6p taking some time off ;)

I do want to learn how to flash the updates on the too!

You can manually flash the images and security updates via the stock recovery correct?

I've had 2 oneplus devices and I always installed twrp, rooted and flashed custom Roms. However I'm trying to not tamper with my Nexus too much.

Can you do these steps on a mac or is it only possible on a pc?

I don't use any stock recovery. Good old cmd commands. Flashing one file at a time. Very easy and clean.

Yes, Mac and PC.

I actually just flashed the latest image. Nexus is all about having control and freedom. Big factor on why to buy them.

But possible...yes? I understand if it's cleaner to do it one file at a time.

I posted links to both the instructions (*.pdf) on sideloading the OTAs, and the OTA updates themselves (in *.zip format) in post #4.

Are there any good, clear instructions on flashing the stock rom updates to Nexus devices?

I got impatient and followed a guide from digitaltrends.com (although the XDA one is very very detailed). It was super simple and easy to use, but of course I already had the Android SDK so I skipped some parts. Now I'm running the latest build and security update.

I found it. It doesn't seem that difficult at all. I think I'll read through the instructions a few times and try it with the April update.

Definitely not difficult at all, there is a hiccup or 2 regarding getting the device into the recovery option and making sure that adb sees your device. But if you run into those problems I'll happily tell you what I did for both issues.

Hi,
Issue can be 2 things

1. your device driver is not properly installed
2. i had that before, enter the ADB with Administrator permission (right click > open as Administrator )

I couldn't take it anymore so I forced mine to update. Moved date forward to 3/22/16 and BOOM, there it was. 66MB.
