Nexus 6p on att

Yeah they don't care. I switch between a S6 and Moto X 2nd gen on the regular. I get bored of things to quick... Damn you Android.

That's correct, I had some bad information from an employee. I planned on keeping my current phone as I can use it as a media device and remote control with the IR.

Went into the At&T store to pay my Go phone prepaid bill for next month via Kiosk. Using the Kiosk avoids paying state and city taxes. Afterward I talked with the rep about moving from the Nexus 5 to the Nexus6P. He said several people had asked about the phone. The rep said that all I have to do is come to the store and they will set up the nano sim for free which will move my phone number over to the new phone. and everything else will continue the same.

I was told differently by two different AT&T agents. Since I still owe device installments they can't transfer my main number to a Nexus device unless I pay off those installments. So I have to cancel my order with Nexus because I can't pay those device installments off right now. So much for that idea. AT&T said you can switch out the SIM cards as long as you are purchasing the said devices thru AT&T. But if you bring your own device, and want to use an existing phone number, there can't be any installments due. They won't let you do that. Really makes me mad. No Nexus for me right now.

Yeah I don't think that's true. If you go into the store, they should be able to swap the sims. I've done it before. Go to a corporate store, not just an authorized trailer. As long as they get the money they want one way or another, they should do it.

Those two reps were certainly incorrect. I went from my S6 to my Moto X Pure, which is unlocked just like the 6P, and my S6 was still on NEXT and nothing changed. Granted you still have to pay the NEXT payment each month but you can swap the sim to another phone with no issue.

Makes no sense. I had a Galaxy S3 under contract to AT&T, Bought a Nexus 5 and simply moved the SIM card myself. No trouble, but that was the same size card. You can consider cutting down the card yourself, or continuing to call different AT&T reps until you get the answer you want.

Agreed on easily moving to different locked and unlocked phones on ATT. I do it all the time and even cut a sim to use it on a nexus 6 and worked fine.

This certain doesn't sound correct. I'm still under contract with an HTC One M8. I went in with my Nexus 6 to troubleshoot an issue with features. They issued a new sim no questions asked. They really don't care what the sim is in as long as you're making payments. They only care that your account is in good standing is all.

I agree with an earlier post about using a corporate store. I find I tend to get more misinformation from the authorized retailers.

Currently have a Nexus 5.

Was on the phone about Visual Voicemail. Asked about SIM. He said they will give me a nano sim and adapter (to use nano sim with current phone) at the store, free. We will see. I'm going in later today.

Let us know on this please. I would love to do this so I am ready to swap SIMs when my 6P arrives.

That is two reps lying to you because they want a commission for selling you a new phone. As others have stated, AT&T could care less what phone you use, so long as you maintain your service and keep making your monthly payments.

Went in. Asked to switch sim sizes and she said no problem. They don't have adapters, though. You must buy one and bring it in. They will then swap to a nano sim, you slip it in the adapter and put it in the Nexus 5.
