Nexus 6P: Various Hands-On Reports

The more I see the black bar, the less it annoys me, so I am really considering the aluminum as well (initially ordered graphite to hide the bar).

Almost ordered the graphite but now I'm leaning aluminum/white just because I like the shine on the chamferred edges around the sides and fingerprint scanner.

Was torn between Aluminum and Graphite but went Graphite hoping that it's like the Black HTC M7 . That was just about the best looking for ever.

Something about the frost draws me in. It's so flashy with the contrast and finishing. I usually go for visually muted phones and cases. Not this time!

Good to see the excellent initial camera rating, for those of you that are all about the camera.
Dxo didn't exactly "nail it" with the super high ratings for the Moto X Pure Edition (outside of broad daylight). Also the ratings are essentially a tie among cameras 3 through 9 (since this isn't scientific and they are separated by just 2 points).

I believe Dxo is selling these top reviews to generate traffic as every major blog creates click-bait articles about the rating. Is there *really* a difference between an 84 and an 82? Or does exclusive access (or a small amount of cash) get you into the top few spots as long as your camera is pretty good in broad daylight?

Not to mention look at some of the things they call out on the 6P cons:

"-The strong jello effect due to the stabilization provides unpleasant videos during motions scenes.
-Refocus are visible under illuminant changes and thefocus is lost during tracking movement."

Have you tried watching a video with bad stabilization? It's nauseating. Bad DIS and Google *still* hasn't fixed the constant refocusing issue the Nexus 6 had (which absolutely ruins videos, and is still an issue on the marshmallow previews so dont believe for a second a software update will fix these issues)? And it's the second best cell camera in the world....or the camera is fine in broad daylight and dxo is getting a ton of ad review for giving it an extra point or two on a subjective scale?

is it better than the G4? who knows ... but the fact that it's even mentioned in the same sentence as the S6 and G4 tells me all I need to know (though admittedly camera not a huge deal for me).

I shot video on the Note 5 of my son skateboarding, and even that didn't have the best stabilization. "nauseating" is a good word, and I think every phone suffers from it. there's still a lot of room for improvement going forward. there's only so much RAM and processor speed a phone needs, but audio/video is definitely something OEMs will be allocating a lot of resources into these next few years.

This phone is really making me want to give up the 6s plus I just got. This phone looks damn sexy and the screen looks amazing from the videos and from what early hands on videos are saying.

how much of a hit would you take if you sold your 6S+? luckily for you it retains its value fairly well. the $700 (our whatever it costs) is a sunken expense, so if you don't have to spend any more money, you might as well get the phone you really want.

and if your financial situation allows more flexibility, just take the hit ... keep us posted

Got the frost white 64gb one. I'm a Sucker for white and looks so classy. Cant wait

Kind of in the same position except I'm on Jump on Demand with T-Mobile. I've tried the Nexus 6 and 5. Lollipop and now Marshmallow has refined Android so much I would be tempted to come back and especially now that my two things I hated to give up with my iPhone has been addressed namely with the fingerprint scanner (love Touch ID) and visual voice mail. The only thing I've noticed that I hated was the quality of Android apps versus their iOS counterparts. Those of you guys that have used both OSes what is your take on the quality of Android apps has it improved within the last year?

The Lannisters send their regards

I had one of those black M7's. Best looking phone ever. I see em on swappa all the time and still want to get one haha

So does anyone actually have the phone yet or do the folks at AC have to wait like us for their copy to review/test. Trying to figure out if we will have any more hands on videos other than what was recorded at the Google Release. I'll wait a couple days for a review before pre-ordering but I'm not waiting until the end of October for a review. Did anyone following this get eyes on with an actual device?

Dammit I thought for sure Jump on demand would have the new nexii. On the note 5 right now and really tempted for a 6p right now lol
