Nexus 7 16GB (gen 2) offline with MyNoaaCharts - gps issue

Downloaded MyNoaaCharts from GooglePlay onto my 16GB tablet. The maps load fine and are available off-line. When I'm home [and have wi-fi connection] the GPS works and shows me on the map a few miles from water [correct location]. When I bring the tablet to the water [and lose the wi-fi], the GPS dot still shows me at home - the place of my last internet connection.

I'd love to use this app - am I missing something obvious? I keep reading the GPS will work with off-line maps.

I use copilot for off line maps. I can say it takes over a minute for the app to find me after I turn on GPS. Are you giving your App enough time for a GPS lock and then a locate? Just a thought, even though we are using different map apps.

Thanks for the thought, but I had it on for 10 min +/- this afternoon down by the dock, and no GPS signal.

have you received the OTA update? This fixes the GPS problems

Thought of that - have not received the update yet. Think I may have nailed the fix, though, which I'll report as someone else may run across it: rummaging through Google Maps - which I'm pretty runs below the surface of the NOAA charts in this app. " Location Reporting" was turned off, so I turned on. With that GPS worked with an off-line Google Map, so I'm hopeful it will work on the water, i.e. off-line, with the NOAA charts and app.
