Not that i'm in any rush to get the Lollipop update as my N7 is running pretty well on 4.4.4.KK, but I had 5.0 OTA and rolled back due to major problems and am wondering if I will get the OTA update for 5.0.2 automatically, get an OTA for 5.0 first followed by the update or have to flash one or both if i want to update?

I left the bootloader unlocked after I flashed 4.4.4 but otherwise it's stock unrooted WiFi only.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Yes in order to do it via OTA, you have to update in session. KitKat 4.4.4 to 5.0, then OTA to 5.0.2

Otherwise since your unlocked, you can just flash the factory images right up to 5.0.2 and if your handy with things you could always skip the " userdata.img " and " -w " wipe commands and it will just update without erasing data.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if you could go directly from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2. Google pulled the 5.0 update long before many devices ever received it. I don't see why they would make receiving 5.0 a prerequisite to receiving 5.0.2.

Yes this is possible. OEMs have done this in the past skipping a build or putting out an OTA that forces the device to jump builds.

Has anyone gotten 5.0.2 OTA without having 5.0 installed? Has anyone flashed 5.0.2 on top of 4.4.4? I've gotten mixed opinions on both of these questions and am seeking definitive answers from some who have actually done it. For those who answer "yes" have there been any performance issues/improvements etc. over 4.4.4 (I'm particularly asking about battery life, lagging, black screens, etc.....)

Thanks.

I got the 5.0 update a while back (can't remember exactly when) and just in the past hour, my tablet downloaded 5.0.2 and installed it, haven't had much chance to use it, so no comment on performance yet. What I did notice, while it was downloading the update, it said it was downloading 13.1MB. That to me doesn't sound like a full OS in such a small file. I would guess it is just some type of patch that fuses itself into the existing 5.0 install, that if I remember correctly was over 300MB.

In answer to the original question, my GUESS would be that you would need 5.0 installed first to get 5.0.2 OTA

I had the 5.0 and hated it. I rolled back to 4.4.4 and now I received the message that 5.02 is ready to be installed. So yes 5.02 will come up even if you don't have 5.0.

Just got the definitive answer to my question.....received a message that 5.0.2 is ready to be installed.

Now I have to decide whether to install it. Given the feedback I've read on this and other forums so far, I think I might wait. KK 4.4.4 is still running pretty good for me.

What say you who have 5.0.2 running?

In another thread I describe how a 5.0.0 - 5.0.2 OTA update hard-bricked (as in cold and dead) my N7. When I search for released updates, only 4.4.4 -> 5.0.0 and 5.0.0 -> 5.0.2 update files are available (the second one is very small). I do not see a direct one 4.4.4 -> 5.0.2 However, full image files exist for all versions. Given my experience, I would suggest avoiding the OTA **updates**. Instead, flash a full stock 5.0.2 image (having saved the local files, if any, first). Best of luck!

My stock 2012 nexus 7 WiFi got updated today. When I got home from work the notification was there to update. Better late than never I guess.

I got the update notification yesterday for 5.0.2 I came from 4.4.4 and it seems a bit slugish. Didn't have many issues with 4.4.4.

I had 4.4.4, got the 5.0 update, hated it, flashed back to 4.4.4, then got the 5.0.2 update, hated that, too, and flashed back to 4.4.4.

Now it's bugging me again to install the 5.0.2 update. I want it to stop.
