Hi all,

I have Nexus 7 (2012) with no OS installed and no recovery options either, at least when I try to enter recovery all I get is the Android image with the chest open and a red triangle.

With the tablet started up as normal ie just sitting with the Google logo, Windows 7 device manager shows: Android Device - Android ADB Interface (I managed to install the ADB driver myself, whether for right or wrong i'm not sure?)

With the tablet sitting at boot loader, device manger shows: Android Device - Bootloader Interface.

The Nexus does not show as a device in My Computer and I have no access to the storage!

So the question is, is it bricked or are there any recovery options?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance to anyone who take time to answer.

Andrew.

Hi all,

I'm assuming your post is just in the wrong category, but no matter... my post applies to either version. (maybe a Mod could move it to the 2012 thread).

There are tons of very-easy-to-find forum threads dedicated to this problem. No reason to go over it again here, but XDA is a great place to start. Trafalgar Square over there has worked incredibly hard and posted loads of guides for us. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62800047 (for the 2012 Nexus).

You don't mention what you were doing when the device went south, or if you're rooted and/or modded?

The key question is whether or not you can get into the bootloader screen, and it appears you can (even if you can't get into Recovery). If you can, your device is almost certainly revivable. While in the bootloader environment, you can flash stuff over from your PC using the JDK's adb and fastboot, or just use the Nexus Root Toolkit.

Good luck🐇

When you have the Android image with the chest open and a red triangle,it is at this point you hold down the power button and immediately while still holding the power button you hit the volume UP button. This should give you a list of commands that you can select with using the up/down buttons and the select the option with the power button.
