All,

For some reason, when I plug my N7 2012 into the USB charger it isn't charging. I'm not sure if the connection is too loose or if there is a problem with the tablet but nothing is happening. I've tried several cables and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Have you tried different wall plugs as well? Do you notice any success if you manipulate the cable or microUSB plug where it connects to the tablet's port? That could suggest a loose connection.

Try also using a can of compressed air to blow out the USB port, in case there's any debris in there.

If the port is faulty, you'd either have to replace it, or look for the official Asus dock, which charges using the pogo pins (the little pins along the left side of the tablet).

This morning I woke to find that my docked Nexus7 2012 was COMPLETELY LITERALLY DEAD to the bone! Usually it's charged at 100%!!! The only thing that I did different last night with it, was that I had placed it into it's Dock with a couple of Google Chrome Browsers open. I saw that you said to the previous guy something about HIM NEEDING TO close his tabs....well, if I had left full browsers open, I had tabs open right....Could two of them left open, all night, have actually drained my battery, completely to 0%, even while it was charging, in it's dock?

I just don't understand this!..I would think that the charger, that's connected to the dock, would have provided plenty of power, all night, to power the 2 open browsers of Chrome!... So why, should it have Drained, my fully charged battery, down to zero?

Maybe, my charger, was not putting out any power?

I did find, that my tablet, would not turn on, in ANY way, whatsoever, when I turned on the power button!--- Nothing at all, on my display!!! ..... UNTIL, I swapped AC Adapters! --- and then, I finally, got a zero battery charge indication, followed by, a battery charging indication, on my display!!!

Could my original AC Adapter, that came with my Nexus 7, just have stopped working, all by itself, while just sitting there, for no reason whatsoever? The Nexus 7, began to charge, when I connected it, to my aftermarket AC charger! ...but it is COMPLETELY and absolutely drained!!!

Tell me, what you, think, took place, here---- I'M VERY NEW TO THIS STUFF, AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE REPERCUSSIONS OF LEAVING THE 2 CHROME BROWSERS OPEN, OVERNIGHT, WHILE THE UNIT IS SITTING ON IT'S DOCK!!! ... IS THAT OK, TO DO,??? OR NOT???

THANK YOU, SO VERY MUCH, FOR YOUR TIME, AND HELP! --- GOD BLESS YOU, VERY RICHLY, AND YOU HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND A RICH HOLIDAY SEASON, ALSO!!! LOVE AND PEACE, ... ROB.

Welcome to Android Central! Were you referring to me in regards to the advice about closing tabs? I wouldn't typically recommend that, unless those tabs were doing something active and processor-intensive (like showing a very long or looping video), and the device wasn't going to sleep either.

When your Nexus 7 was docked, was the screen on the whole time? Or did it go to sleep? Do you have the official Asus dock for the Nexus 7, or a 3rd party one? After charging the device up again with the usual AC charger, can you see if the dock continues to charge the device like it should? Maybe the dock's charging circuits (or the AC adapter that is connected to the dock) has become faulty.

I just sent mine in to ASUS last week Nov 22nd. This is a known issue, for the past year. I hassled for 6 months trying to fix. I finally sent mine in before warranty ran out. It is "In repair" at this time. The battery ran down all the way, and I feel it also had something to do with when the Jelly Bean update was pushed. My daughter had let the battery run down before and there wasnt a problem until the update. Then everyone was saying to push this with this button and hold for 30 seconds, plug, unplug, use asus charger, try a different charger, keep on charger for 11 hours! If i wasnt laughing , i would have become very upset they should have recalled them all! I bought a dock, i bought new usb that had more umph and nothing worked.
