Hello guys! I've received my shiny new nexus 7 2013 yesterday but I've noticed that my battery life is quite bad... I don't know if it's because of the device or is it because i recently updated to lollipop. I've heard that people are having problems with their battery when they updated to lollipop. So i don't know if it is just my OCD or my tablet has a really suckish battery life

Ps: i get around 6 hours on a straight, light to moderate use, wifi is always turned on, I've decreased the brightness (i would say that im in 10%), I've tried every battery saving technique but still... I get 6 hrs. I posted a screenshot of my battery stats hope that helps.

Thank you for responding!! :)

Did you buy in brand new from the store? Did you get the update and then updated it when you powered it on?

Yes it is brand new then I updated it to 5.0, i got the update when I powered on the device. :)

I would try doing a factory reset of the device. For some reason there has been a lot of problems with the updates on a lot of phones and tablets. Doing a factory reset generally fixes most issues.

Oh ****? Is it that bad? I mean i haven't installed a lot of apps since I had it. Would a reset be necessary?

If you just got it and haven't put a lot of stuff on it, it shouldn't be that bad. You can just download it all again and be good to go.

Well okay i'll just notify you if you're still online. Hey man thanks for helping a brotha out in advance. But I'm still wondering how would i know if the battery is now okay? :)

You hopefully will start seeing better battery life because the OS will be operating correctly.

Thank you guys for posting this. I've had a similar problem from a while on 5.02. I even reset the device once after updating. Even though I keep "WiFi off when sleeping" setting on, it still continues to drain the battery and the major culprit is either Google play services or android OS. I don't know what I can do. I've turned off all possible syncs off. I hope 5.1 fixes this drain
