Nexus 7 2013 lollipop OTA update pulled off!!!

For me just rebooting will temporarily resolve the issue. Hopefully they will get this resolved quickly.

I tried sparksd's suggestions, adaptive brightness was turned on so I turned it off. Then I cleared the cache partition, but I still have video problems and apps randomly closing. Thanks for trying to help!

The video problems are fairly widespread and we have to wait for a Google fix. Some of the apps issues may be due to incompatibility with the ART runtime implemented across the board in 5.0 - that's why I went back to Dalvik after trying it under KitKat. Which apps are crashing?

Ah, maybe this is why I also couldn't update mine. I noticed the system update notification icon a couple of days ago, but wanted to update a couple of apps first. Once I went to Google Play to do the app updates, the system update icon disappeared, and hasn't come back yet. I did get the update on my 2012 N7 and N5, though.

Flashed my nexus 7 to lollipop and it works perfect! There are no video playback issues and etc. etc. Feeling lucky!! :D

Strange! I received the OTA update yesterday and installed it on my 2013 Nexus 7 running Nova Launcher Prime. So far everything I have tested runs fine under 5.0. I have noticed it takes longer to boot but I have a header widget that takes a while to load. Prior to 5.0 the system would boot and then load the header; running 5.0 everything is fully loaded before the boot completes.
I have the same setup as you and I noticed it takes a little longer to load. But it opens with the widget fully open. I love that.

I'm going to wait until there's a 5.01 OTA before I update. Kit Kat works just fine for me. Don't see a good enough reason to mess with good thing.

I also had video playback issues after an OTA update. I wiped the cache (search for nexus 7 wipe cache on forums), but I still had trouble. (MX Player and VLC crashed or hung)

I went into the settings -> developer options and checked / unchecked the following.

Hardware accelerated rendering -> Force GPU rendering (checked)
Media -> Use NuPlayer (experimental) (unchecked)

I got video playback working with ES File Manager's built-in video player. (barebones, but it worked.) Not sure if checking settings on/off mattered.

Then I found an XDA forum link to MX Player's nightly builds and downloaded and installed (and updated) my existing MX Player. Videos playback fine in nightly version of MX Player below. Hope it helps.

(using a N7 2013, Android version 5.0, Build number LRX21P)
(MX Player 1.7.32.nightly.20141114)

I hope the MX Player nightly works.

Wish I could get wireless file transferring working again. Worked when my N7 was on 4.4.4, but it times out or gets an error in 5.0. The tablet can still receive but can't send.

Very very fortunate. My Nexus 7 16GB (2013) is now a brick, stuck on the dead Android robot mid-recovery screen. That is from trying to install 5.0 from the OTA notification. FWIW, I'd switched over to ART earlier this month to prep all my apps for the upgrade, and all worked fine until the upgrade-install/tablet murder from Asus/Google. Shltheads.

OP, you're probably lucky you didn't install right away. I did install the Lollipop OTA and now having problems. Whenever I try to play a video, whatever app I'm using will instantly close. Also my screen will dim slightly at irregular times and then at some later time, brighten back to normal. Some apps won't start or function. Ugh.

I'm having the same issue as ozkmtnbear. Last year when I installed KitKat my Nexxus 7 was so messed up I had to mail it to the company for repair. I lost everything i had on it since they had to do a factory install. I hesitated to update with Lollipop but after a week of the notification I decided to. I regret that. I don't know if I'll ever do another update again.

After I did the partition cache wipe, everything seems to be working just fine now. I hope those that are having issues can get the resolved soon.

Amen. When they can't even get it to work well on their own devices (numerous posts around the interwebs attest to this), you gotta wonder.
