Staples, Walmart, RadioShack and my local Frys all have both of them in stock.

I won't be surprised if in a couple months or so, we'll start seeing some discounts.

Don't think they'll be discounted much if at all since they already being sold at or very close to cost.

This is good, hopefully the Nexus brand will get the noticed by more people. I'm officially done with carrier branded devices and I'm just going to stick with nexus devices from here on. They without a doubt bring the best android experience.

Hopefully game stop gets them back in stock soon.

Why? Are they selling them on discount? If not, there are other choices as OP mentioned...unless of course GS is your only option

You might see fire sale sale prices if the iPad mini is a reality in the next few months.

In my area it seems like 16GB is still sold out at most places, though 8GB models are not hard to get.

I would be surprised if the price comes down anytime soon. I think Google is already selling this thing about as cheaply as they can. And it's already an extremely good value, I see no need to lower the price.

The iPad mini probably won't be priced that low, no Nexus 7 fire sale coming. Haha.

Never.

The HP situation was different.

Ever since the TouchPad I've heard so much about fire sales to last me a lifetime. The HP TouchPad fiasco was most likely a once in a lifetime thing.

It's important to note that the os was largely to blame. HP got tired of spending money on software and developers were more scarce. If we see it happen again it would be Blackberry but I don't expect it.

I already saw a nexus 7 add on the back of entertainment weekly this week. And I've seen many commercials in the olympics. It looks like this is going to be the tablet!

What? Don't think so. What doomed the Touchpad was HP corporate. Their handling of the launch was an epic fail. Then backtracking on their other promises on how web OS would be used strategically killed off any interest from serious developers from investing more resources. Also, it's not that hard to develop for webOS; it's mainly javascript. You heard that Apotheker (sp?) even tried to spin off the hardware divisions, right? Another fail; he didn't get it, HP is a hardware company. I wonder if HP will ever recover from his one year at the helm. webOS was collateral damage unfortunately.

Of course, I'm speaking from user experience. Are you speaking from insider experience or just stating your point of view?

Your speaking from a user / developer. I'm speaking more on a distributer level. HP gave up on it for whatever reason but the "web os is dead" reports are what spurred the fire sale. Many people bought them planning to put droid on it even. HP had some dark days for a while because they showed a lack of direction.

I saw one today at Walmart... I was tempted to get one because they were not charging tax on it today- back to school special....

Do yourself a favor...go back to the Walmart RIGHT NOW...if they ask you any questions you say "shut up and take my money!!"

They are definitely making money on the storage...It can't cost $50 for them to add 8GB of storage space. So there must be a little more profit on the 16GB.

I would hazard a guess that 8GB, 16GB or even 32GB cost within $'s of each other. If they put in an SD slot that might add $1 to their cost.

Well I have a $50 gamestop gift card and I'm trading in my old ipod touch for some store credit to mark down the cost :)

The more stores they get this device into the more sales they will hopefully get.

As for the iPad Mini I bet it sells for $299. Apple won't lose there profit margin, they're way too greedy for that.
