Since updating to 4.4.2, I have a strange issue that I can't find an answer...

I charge my unit using the Asus dock.... yet for some reason, it only charges the unit very slowly...

In some cases, it can't charge it faster that the unit (2012) uses battery...

I have tried to charge the unit directly using it's charger and cord, yet it does the same thing....

Now the only way to charge it is to turn it off, yet that still takes 4 - 8 hours to get a full charge...

It just started doing it after the update.... I have opened the unit up to be sure the battery connect is not loose, which it isnt.

Anyone else with this issue? Anyone figure out a solve for it?

Same problem here. it started just after I update to 4.4. (Im on 4.4.2 and it didnt fix the problem)

There are 2 things you can try

-Change the USB cable.
-Use an Official Dock.

I changed the Asus USB cable for BlackBerrys and using the stock wall charger and it does charge faster (Not as fast as it should).

I have done both...

I use the official dock everyday... and it worked fine intil i updated...

So, I switched to the official plug that came with the 7 and have the same issues... I have switched the cables many time to no avail.

The only way for me to get a full charge is to shut it off and charge it.... as it seems that the battery drains while I charge it when it's on or in sleep.

Re: Battery charging issues - 4.4.2

I have this exact issue, I'm using a nexus 7 2012 (16gb) and as soon as I updated to kit kat my battery charge time has increased at least 100% but probably more like 130-50%
I've found a few threads on the internet talking about the issue but not many seem to have the issue and no one seems to have fixed it. PLEASE does anyone know how to fix this without going back to jellybean?

Is there a lot of Google Services activity during the time it's charging? Try shutting it on and off a few times and see if that helps.

I've resorted to only charging with the device off, it takes about 8 hours from <4% to full charge on a third party charger(used to be 3ish hours)

Something's wrong with it. Have a look in this thread and see if anything is useful. There may be apps you can disable because something's using a ton of battery. Also did you change your plug and cable?

Thanks for the reply but I'm not charging with the device on so apps taking up battery is irrelevant.
And no I a haven't changed my charger, it would be one hell of a coincidence if the charger is at fault since it happened the first time charging exactly after upgrading to kit kat

I've seen a few posters with this same problem. Just to be sure, you already cleared the USB port if any dust or lint? Best to do it with a can of air. Additionally try using a different cable and/or plug?

I have the same problem on galaxy note 3...just got the 4.4.2 update 2 days ago...ever since I installed it phone takes forever to charge...I plugged it in last night at 9 pm...it was at 27%... at 7 am this morning it was only 97%... I have tried everything recommended above but it IS a problem with the update...
