Nexus 7 cannot download attachments from aol webpage, how can I fix this?

nexus 7 cannot dowload attachments from aol webpage

I have an aol.com email address which I access via web mail usually though chrome.
The email attachments wont open or download ( they did previously).
The screen goes to "get the aol app"" which contains lots of USA stuff which we dont want. Selecting the "get later" option defaults back to the email list again.

any suggestions how to cure

Welcome to Android Central! What happens if you long-press the attachment instead? Is that "Get the AOL app" screen a website or the Google Play Store app page?
