Nexus 7 connectes to network, but not internet

I experienced the same problem - My Nexus 7 showed a strong signal and Wi Fi connection. I could do a search in Google but not go to any of the links in the search results. I cound not access the Internet using Chrome at all. I contacted Asus and their solution was a factory reset. I declined. As a last resort, under [Settings] [Apps] I cleared cache and data in Chrome. The Internet appeared almost immediately and is back as fast as ever.

I didn't use my nexus for a while and was unable to turn it back on so after reconnecting the battery again all the times and dates reset and my internet connection would only be grey. also I could only use Google chrome and wasn't able to access play store, internet apps etc.
but strangely after changing the updating the date and time everything started working again with 4 full bars !

I had the same problem as others mentioned and it happened after my Nexus 7 battery had gone completely dead. I finally got it started again by using the provided charger and pressing the power button along with the volume button. After I got it running again, it would not connect to Facebook or the Play Store or most other things and kept giving me "Network Error".

The solution was as mentioned previously, I had to go into settings>Date and Time> and set it to pick up the network time and date. Suddenly it started updating all apps, bringing in all
new messages and when finished all worked again. Facebook and the Play Store were fine.

I replaced my router. Same symptoms recurred for other people and devices...

I almost returned my Nexus one its first day after spending the whole day updating, fiddling with routers, running network diagnostics (which kept telling me on and off that there was a DNS problem). In the settings I found something that cleared the cache on everything, and to my amazement the Nexus started acting like it should. After that, no diagnostic errors and snappy web pages! All I can figure is that someone had connected this tablet and sent it back to Amazon. I found it hard to believe anyone would buy such a piece of junk!
Another hint was that it connected to my DJI Phantom 2 wireless system and worked fine because there is no DNS required for that.
Bravo, Sir!

Thanks. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Turned out the nexus didn't have automatic date and time turned on and after an extended period of no battery my trablet was set to the year 1999. Checked automatic date and time and boom, back in business.
