Nexus 7 connecting to web

I have no problem connecting to the web thru my wifi router at the house or at some stores. The problem is when I am at a college
to see a basketball game and I want to check other scores I first ask the collage for the password. After entering the password my Nexus 7
says I am connected to the college wifi. When i enter in a web page up comes a note stating I am not connected to the web. Server not found.
What am I doing wrong as I would like to check other basketball scores. Any help on this.

are you sure your college is not blocking the website you are trying to view?

Try navigating to CNN, FOX or Google to see if the page your are trying to go is blocked, if no navigating to the web is allowed they may have set up the Wi-Fi to an intranet.
