I'm a primary school teacher looking to invest in some tablets for my school. I have a nexus for personal use and think they'd work well in school but not sure about the technicalities. Does anyone know whether I can buy say 15 nexus and link them all with one gmail account so that apps downloaded go to all devices? Ideally I want to have the technician push apps out from his laptop to all devices simultaneously.

Also how can I lock the tablet down so that pupils cannot download apps/change settings etc.Could I have different security settings for different user i.e. pupils/ teachers?

Can you think of any other issues I might come across using the nexus in a primary school?

Does anyone know of an education supplier of nexus'?

Thanks:D

While I think having one gmail account on a few devices is possible.. Simultaneously downloading apps to all devices may not. The apps purchased/downloaded would have to be manually downloaded to each one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

There is a limit to the amount of devices that an Account can have associated with it.

You can push apps remotely from the Google Play website. I expect there is a limit as to the number of devices you can register to one account, but I can't find a reference to how many it would be, I suggest trying to contact Google's Play Store's customer service for an answer to that question.

There are parental control apps that should be able to lock down the devices the way you want them, although I don't have any experience with them myself. The Nexus 7 also supports multiple users, so you could have different user profiles for teachers and pupils.

Thanks
Has anyone used the parental controls app and know how it works - what it restricts? Our school security setting should stop pupils accessing inappropriate sites but wondered if app could restrict use so children could only use e-books or certain apps.

I use an app called My Mobile Watchdog on my daughter's Android phone. On the Play Store it is MMWD. This works to keep apps from being installed and has a web site filter as well. There is a $5 per month fee per device. They might work with a district for a discount. It also has the ability to locate a device in case a pupil with sticky fingers tried to take one home.
