Nexus 7 not recognized in Win 7 Explorer

Nexus 7 2012 when connected to Win 7 pc is not recognized in explorer so can't transfer files between the two except when N7 is in camera mode.

I've read countless posts saying to update usb drivers. I have the latest installed now from Google. I had so much trouble getting adb & fastboot to work that I'm leery about messing with my usb drivers. Is there another approach to making this work?

Have you tried a different cable? Maybe your original cable is failing.

If you continue to have problems connecting, consider trying AirDroid or Wifi File Explorer (search for them on Google Play), both of which allow you to move files wirelessly using a desktop interface.
