Nexus 7 not showing up as a device

My Nexus 7 (2013) tablet will not show up as a device on my computer or laptop. It does however charge.

Just curious what OS are you running on your computer? It really shouldn't matter but its a starting point.

Have you tried different ports on your computer and/or a different cable? Some cables are specifically setup to charge only (rare, but some 3rd party cords) while the rest should support both charge and data transfer.
