Nexus 7 or ipad mini

Only problem I see is that all the 7 inch displays Apple is stocking up on are 1024x768. This, I believe is a mistake. The one thing i devices should always have is a great display. I understand they need to compete in price with Google and that unlike Google they would like to make some profit on each device, but releasing a 7 incher with a worse display than the 200 dollar N7 is a really bad idea.

This is the issue with it. I can't imagine they'll be able to sell them for $199 when that's what they sell iPod Touch's for. They're going to have to skimp on something to remain price competitive with the N7.

I use an iPhone, as well as owning a N7. I had an iPad2, a Playbook, and the N7, and out of the three, the iPad was the worst for size, weight, and UI.

Are there are any apps on the iPhone/iPad that I cannot get on other devices? Sure, I haven't found any guitar apps on the other platforms. Nothing else that I use apart from that though...

So, no, I won't be getting an iPad-mini.

No, because it HAS to be $400 for a 7.85 incher or whatever it is. As others have already stated, iPod Touch (which is already an Mini iPad, right?) is 3.5 inches and $200. Double the screen size (it'll actually be over 3 times the screen size of iPod Touch, but going by numerical dimensions here) and double the price and you're at 7 inches and $400. You can buy 2 N7's for the price of 1 iPad Mini.

I already own an iPod Touch and I simply stopped using it once I got my Android phone and now N7. I have to force myself to power on my iPod Touch, I can't think of too many apps on iTunes which I want, but that aren't on Android outside of the game Mirror's Edge.

Overall, I don't see the need for two tablets if there's something like a 95% app cross over.

The other problem I have with it is that it is made by Apple, and as far as I am concerned, their recent legal actions have far overstepped the bounds of reasonable defence of their IP and they are just trying to shut down their main competition and in doing so depriving me of choice. I cannot in good conscience support a company who behaves in such a manner and would suggest that anyone else who values choice not buy from them.

This!

The main problem I have with the iPad mini is that if the rumours are true the screen will be too wide for my taste, it is rumoured to have a 7.85" screen, and that will almost certainly be a 4:3 ratio which means it has to be wider than the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 7 is at the very limit of a manageable width for me to hold with one hand (by that I mean with my hand all the way round the back, like you normally hold a phone).

My thoughts exactly, also just try loading your own movies, music etc. onto an un-jailbroken iPad.

The key thing that'll make me decide is if the Mini has 3G/4G support. I don't see a reason in buying a tablet that doesn't.

Because a lot of people find it easier to WiFi tether a tablet to their phone rather than pay extra/swap a sim every time. I don't see a reason to buy a tab that does have 3g/4g.
