Nexus 7 Play Store Customer Service - Or Lack thereof

Earlier today I commented on another post about it being the most re-tar-ded thread I've ever seen on AC. I take that back.... This thread deserves that honor hands down! It boggles my mind that some of you are still trying to blame Google for the acts of 1 rogue retailer. What's next, you'll be blaming Google for what Apple/Microsoft/RIM/Nokia does? Smh at this douchebaggery.

1 rogue retailer?

Explain Adorama and Sam's Club in the US, EBuyer in the UK, Staples and Memory Express in Canada, all going early.

Google deserves the flak it's getting.

I just called Google Play Customer Service. The guy absolutely agreed with me that pre-orders were getting ripped off. He advised me to try and pick it up in a store. And if successful to refuse shipment. Google will refund all costs. Including shipping.

Just called a Staples. They have some in stock. Unfortunately, the GF has the car. I'll be trying in the morning. If that comes through, Google can eat the cost of burning UPS gas without delivery.

Except the point of pre-ordering is to get it the day it's released. Otherwise there is no point when you could have went to a store to get it EARLIER. People pre-order to get it first, not second. How's that for an advertisement? "PRE-ORDER IT NOW AND YOU'LL GET IT GUARANTEED AFTER THE INITIAL LAUNCH!"

Almost nobody would have pre-ordered through Google play and paid for two-day shipping (beginning on a weekend, no less--what the hell?) when they could have preordered it at a store at the very least and got it the first day.

I guess I missed the press release where Google said "Nexus 7's officially available at retail centers nationwide"

Possibly because there wasn't one?

What do you know Google said Mid July and here we are mid July and

Google now shipping first wave of Nexus 7 pre-orders | Android Central

Again i heard google loud and clear mid july they would ship right on time google excellent work! Google sticking to there time line check!

Agreed. Google stated a 2-3 week wait before units shipped. We are still in that timeframe, so I don't see any need for Google to compensate the OP because some people got them first at GameStop.

The Google apologists and fanboys on this forum should stop kidding themselves. Google did not fulfill its promise to Play Store preorder customers. We were encouraged to order the Nexus 7 through the Play Store and were required to pay 2 day shipping at the high rate of 13.99. At the time of the initial preorders there were no retail partnerships announced. Not only did we not receive the Nexus 7 upon intial availabilty as promised, we are now given two day shipping through the weekend. Google could have shipped these devices on Wednesday. They were available. The Australian line is just that, a line, an excuse. The devices were shipped in a timely manner to thousands of retail stores. They could just as easily have been shipped to thousands of preorder customers.
I am tired of hearing that Google fulfillled their promise by shipping in 2 to 3 weeks and by the middle of July. Anyone who thinks that promise did not include the fact that buyers expected to receive these devices upon the day of first availability is kidding themselves. There have been many product launches where this precedent was set. Google should refund the two day shipping cost. The item was not delivered in a timely manner to the customers who followed Google's initial instructions and preordered at the Play Store. No excuses!!!

I'm in Australia. Ordered 27/6. Still no shipping email or anything from Google even after emailing them 3 times. What did they say about Australia?

Not sure this is the thread for your question since it's about customer service and may not get looks. Maybe try a new thread or a search.
