Android Central Question

I've had my Nexus 7 tablet for about a year and a half, for a while it served as one of the best Android tablets I have owned, but for past few months I have been running into several problems that hasn't resolved.

The main issue is that the battery doesn't seem to last for than two hours, prier to when it would last around 8-10 hours.

It will lose battery life when it is in charge, or sometimes just not charge at all. It is extremely slow when regaining battery even if it is not in use and/or turned off.

I have factory reset my tablet several times and none of the problems have gone away. It has only gotten worse.

I have had other problems such as an unresponsive and glitchy screen, being too hot to touch, (resulting in burning myself on the tablet) even after using for only a few minutes, etc

I read a while ago that Nexus 7s only seen to last about two years and I was wondering if it's time to pack it up and get a replacement?

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like it could be a failing battery, which can also get unusually warm. The high temps can then cause problems with the touchscreen. See if the problems persist in Safe Mode: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/7665064?hl=en. If so, then it's likely a battery/hardware problem. If they go away in Safe Mode, then some app you installed might be going rogue and using excess CPU/battery, but that seems unlikely with what you're describing.

1.5 years sounds a little early for battery failure, but remember that the device most likely wasn't brand new when you got it, so the battery is probably more like 3-4 years old.
