Nexus 7 storage not coming up on pc?

I have an issue with my nexus 7 when I hook it up to my pc my files don't show in the folders like they used to. I have discovered that there is a folder called "storage" in the main directory and in it are two sub folders called "emulated" and "sdcard0". I have to go into one of these folders in order for any files to come up on my pc. I never had to do this before and I don't know where these folders came from. Before, all I had to do was go into the folder "sdcard" in the main directory and all my files would be in there. Does anyone else have these 2 folders? If not i'm just going to delete them as I don't need two partitions of one sd card.
