a bit early to speculate but we all know unless google kills off the nexus program this oct-nov the next nexus will be released. my question is, what will they name it? it can't be nexus 7 as that name is already taken by the 2 tablets. plus i doubt they would release a 7" phone lol.

thoughts?

i was a bit skeptical of the theory that the 5, 6, 7, 9 names will all correspond to the display size from here on out but that's what it looks like is falling into place. so they just might continue that naming convention from here on out.

If they call it the nexus 7, it doesn't mean it has to go by screen size.. Could just be the generation number associated with it, hence it will be the 7th generation of the nexus phone.. Look at all the other phone manufacturers, they do the same, we are coming on what the 6th generation of the Samsung galaxy s series, which is called the s6, lg is on the 4th generation of the g series, lg g4, and so on..

then why didnt they name nexus 7 the nexus one tablet?? They are going by the screen size and name a year for the version
thats why Nexus 7 2012 and n7 2013 exist

Because the nexus 7 is a tablet, different market.. Did the 1st nexus, the nexus one have a 1 inch screen?? Did the nexus 4 have a 4 inch screen?? No it did not, has a 4.7 inch screen, closer to 5 inches than 4.. It was also the 4th generation if the phone, as well as the nexus 5 is the 5th generation, and the nexus 6 is the 6th generation.. I highly doubt that the next nexus phone, the nexus 7 or whatever it may be called will have a 7 inch screen..

If Google does not realize that they went too large on the Nexus 6 and do not come out with a better size phone, my Nexus 5 is my last Nexus. I am happily rocking a Moto Maxx and it is what the Nexus should have been.

I want an updated Nexus 7 tablet. Mine is still going along great, but it's going to be 2 years old now and new tech would be nice.

I wonder if they start using Partner+Nexus naming again. Ever since Nexus 4, they started the numbering scheme. Plus it does add confusion if they used Nexus 7 which is already the tablet should they continue to 7.

Though to be fair to LG, they just name something like LG G2 or G3 so they can't find something clever (unlike Nexus 2nd Gen and 3rd which are Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus respectively)

why would Google "realize" they went too large? the 6" Nexus 6 is selling like hotcakes - they can't keep the damn thing in stock! at the end of the day - the market loves it.

A friend of mine at work just got the nexus 6, although from us cellular, he loves it.. he let me play around with it, and have to say the size isn't as bad as I thought it would be.. this may be my next phone upgrade from my nexus 5, unless the rumor is true that lg is making the next nexus then I might wait to see what they do with it, if they keep it premium as is or what..

Just because it is not in stock does not mean they are selling like hotcakes..."Artificial Scarcity"

Let me ask you this take a poll of your surrounding friends and family, How many Nexus 6's are there in the wild that you have actually seen? I have yet to see anyone who owns a Nexus 6, except the one I purchased and returned.

OK so let me get this straight. you are telling me that if the Nexus 6 had a smaller display - ie 5" display - Google would have sold a lot more devices? and they are purposely limiting production and availability in order to "sell out"? ridiculous.

your "friends and family" argument is a logical fallacy. correlation does not imply causation. i submit to you that would see no more 5" Nexus devices than i would 6" Nexus devices. the reasons why are too obvious and numerous for me to post here - and we all know what they are.

Actually what I said was if the the Next Nexus is not smaller I will not be getting the next Nexus. The Moto Maxx in my opinion is a better size for me.

Nexus 7 5.7 in. Screen 8 core processor 4 GB ram. 128 GB storage with a 3400 battery ..choices of white, black or blue..... That would be sweet!!!!

I believed google knew exactly how big it was going to be..... Maybe make a plus version next time?! 5.2 and 6 in. Screen
