nexus 9 vs asus z580ca?

Missed the Nexus 9 $199 Black Friday deal but they're still $270ish on Amazon at this point. So is the Zenpad S 8.0 (z570ca.) The model with the quicker processor, 4gig ram, and 64gig storage. Setting aside the Zen UI, which would be the better performer? The Nexus is now over a year old design and I'm still seeing posts about sliggish performance, even on Marshmallow. Are these isolated and most run great? Anyone have the Asus?
