Sorry I haven't read entire thread, but I just got my orb and tried it last night. My N4 got incredibly hot. Once phone was charged it cooled down. This scares me. Is this normal?

Mine seems to get warm while charging, but not excessively so. Can't say Id worry about the heat, unless the phone started acting funny or not responding at all while on the charger.

Mine got really hot with Day Dream running specifically Beautiful Widgets. Not sure if it the app because as soon as I turned it off phone cooled down and now chargers cool.

$60 is a lot, but it says it comes with its own cable and charger, always nice to have a backup charger! Tempted

I can hold mine about a 1/4 " above it, hovering, and it still charges. Have you tried it with the bumper? The center ring is also slightly raised vs the outer ring.

Ringke Fusion Hybrid Hard Case work extreme well with the orb. Hold it tight.

Instead of starting another thread, I write my little review here.

I just got the charging orb I won from AC. Put my N4 on at 7:23 and took it off at 8:10. Went from 71% to 97% in that time. Never noticed it slip one bit so far. Actually picked the phone up a few times while attached and stayed suctioned tight. Did NOT clean off my Ringke Fusion case, just stuck it on and no issues. Did not feel any heat while it was charging either.

So far all is great, although I don't think I would be happy if I just dropped $60+ bucks on one though. At $30-35, I'd be happy with no buyers remorse.

So, a big thank you to AC for giving these away (and picking me of course ) and we shall see how it holds up over the next few weeks.

Now with day two gone, still no problems. My nexus dissent stick as good as it did at first. Has not slipped off yet, but can't pick the phone up and have the charger still attached. Not that I do it regularly, just to see how well it sticks. Keep in mind though that I still have not cleaned the orb or my case off yet, that's probably the issue. For some odd reason, just curious how long I can go until it won't hold before I wipe them off.

Noticed some heat with the screen on, but not near as bad as the LTE Galaxy Nexus got while charging and screen on. It is nothing I'm worried about though.

So far though the orb charges slower than with a cable, but not bad at all. It seems around 30% an hour for me. Love the look when phone is on it for some reason. I think it looks cool. Overall it is not a bad charger, a little overpriced but is a cool little charger.

I'm starting to understand the frustration of the people that waited forever for their N4's to ship from Google. I ordered the charging orb from the Play store on 3/14. It said it was in stock and would ship by 3/17 by way of 2 day shipping. I emailed them on 3/21 because I hadn't heard anything. I got an email telling me it shipped on 3/22 with the tracking number. on 3/25, I emailed again because the tracking number never updated with any information. On 3/26, my card was charged in full for the charger. It is now 4/2 and I don't have my charger, my card has been charged and there is no information about where my charger is. I have received a few generic emails and they finally sent my case to a "specialist" to find out what's going on. I emailed them last night to tell them that I want the 2 day shipping waived if it's been shipped and to cancel my order and refund my money immediately if it hasn't shipped yet. While typing this, they just emailed me apologizing again and that they forwarded my response to the investigator and they should have an answer shortly. Uggghhh. Sorry for the rant, but this is ridiculous. I've been spoiled by Amazon's shipping haha!

That's inexcusable. I've caught the Play peeps promising things then reneging due to a specialist's review. :thumbdown:

I finally received it on 4/3 and am really happy with it. They actually refunded me the shipping cost. I'll definitely be very leery of buying anything from the play store in the future
